trlcavscout
I just got this rifle and do not like the short FF tube. Can the front site post be trimmed enough to accomodate a Troy battle rail? I see the have low and high profile, does it matter? I have never had a 308 AR before so not sure if it will work like a normal AR, and not sure what Troy means on the profiles?I am gonna have the work done elsewhere I just need to get the parts and would like to keep the pinned site and just trim it if possible? Thanks
98Z5V
That front sight base is the same for the AR-15, and it trims down pretty small. Basically, if cutting it down will work on the AR-15, it should work on the .308. Which Troy rail are you looking at? The TRX series or the MRF-308 rail? I've got the MRF, so I can measure inside diameter if you need the numbers.
survivalshop
I have the Troy battle rail & the only problem is if you use a cut down or low profile gas block ,ya can't get a rail on the bottom ,because the gas block is in the way .You can shift it back towards the receiver a little & it will work , but not at the end of the hand guard .My gas block is a clamp on type , a pined block might let it clear , might .Just some thing for you to ponder. Now the other Troy rails, of course are different . trlcavscout
i think I will try it. So I see the info on removing the tube, but what wrench do I need for the nut? I see several different ones, I am looking for a one time deal so I dont want to spend a lot of cash. Thanks
survivalshop
I'll have to look at my instructions ,but I think it takes a std M16 wrench. Not sure if all there hand guard types take the same tool.Check there web sight , it should tell you .
Grumpydan
which Clamp on gas block did you use under your Troy TRX battle rail? I am getting ready to put the 12.6" trx battle rail on my AR-10 carbine and would like to put a clamp on gas block instead of set screws any one in particular you would suggest for fitting under this system? ThanksHiya Ive got one trx battlerail and another on the way...mine is the 13.8 which covers the gas block which is a lowprofile made for the sass barrel....another story....lol but ive got a stag for the new build which fits under the trx....dpms changed their height profiles on the upper so troy builds two different heights...im using a mega upper so i use the high profil trx....you can go to their website and it explains which one you need.....but screw that you call troy ask for tech support and talk to Jeff Morgan....he is the guy to get you the proper trx for your upper <thumbsup> Wash
