Bugler Posted February 10, 2020 Report Posted February 10, 2020 I have an Armalite AR-10 A4 (carbine)from the Clinton ban years and would like to know if the flash suppressor is just pressed on & pinned? or is it also welded? might it also be threaded? ...and, any suggestions on how to remove it??? Many thanks

It seems I recall they were silver soldered but I may be misremembering, or full of schit, @mrraley will know for sure.
mrraley Posted February 10, 2020 Report Posted February 10, 2020 (edited) Is it a two port or three port? can you post a picture of the 6 o'clock position of the muzzle break? Edited February 10, 2020 by mrraley
Bugler Posted February 10, 2020 Author Report Posted February 10, 2020 Well, not quite sure what's sixoclock , so here's top sides & bottom... My intent is to free float this barrel, however if too difficult a take down, I guess I'd just suck it up & just get new barrel ... oh, I did take the pins out but the brake seems really stuck on there! wasn't sure if need a puller of some kind, or to be unscrewed? and thank you for the tech info post! invaluable! especially since Armalite been sold and nothing remains of the old AR15.com industry info...
Robocop1051 Posted February 10, 2020 Report Posted February 10, 2020 Having @mrraley here is the most invaluable resource in the world.
mrraley Posted February 10, 2020 Report Posted February 10, 2020 that one being double cross pinned like that is because it is knurled and pressed on. others were blind pinned at 45* and welded, but they were threaded on. options: send it to a reputable place, cut the break off and thread the barrel. replace complete upper configuration and sell current one to someone that is in a state that has restrictions still. replace bbl asm and rebuild the way you want it.
Bugler Posted February 10, 2020 Author Report Posted February 10, 2020 Thank you, that info helps me out a lot! Option 3. seems the way to go... I am content.... 🙂
