Drop in handguards on low profile upper

If I wanted to leave the delta ring + handguard setup in place on a flat top upper with a DPMS low profile, would AR15 handguards (with top rail) line up with the receiver?  I've looked at some measurements that seem close, but I don't know if it's close enough.

Nope.  Won't work.  Height over bore is significantly different between large frame and small frame.

See if Midwest Industries has a DPMS-Low setup.  Look for the MRF rail, or other drop-ins from them.   I have an MRF from 10 years ago, and it's stout, solid, and nice.

DPMS low is the same height over bore as milspec AR15. that was the reason they switched standards...so AR15 irons and FSGBs would work on the LR308s.

What I don't know is if the delta ring is the same. I'd assume not since the 308 chamber area is thicker than it's pee shooting counterpart.
