DJ Phallic
My DPMS LR-308 has the 24 inch stainless bull barrel and it's just to heavy to carry in the field. With a loaded mag, scope, sling, bipod, and LED hunting light, it's 16 lbs 10 oz. A guy that works at my local range said a gunsmith could shorten it to 18 inches for like $70. Has anyone ever done this and if so what were the results? Any input is appreciated.
98Z5V
Send that sucker off to ADCO, and have them shorten/rethread the barrel, as well as re-profile it to a lighter profile. That will probably be much cheaper than even getting a new barrel. <thumbsup>
