DJ Phallic Posted December 5, 2011 Report Posted December 5, 2011 My DPMS LR-308 has the 24 inch stainless bull barrel and it's just to heavy to carry in the field. With a loaded mag, scope, sling, bipod, and LED hunting light, it's 16 lbs 10 oz. A guy that works at my local range said a gunsmith could shorten it to 18 inches for like $70. Has anyone ever done this and if so what were the results? Any input is appreciated.
98Z5V Posted December 5, 2011 Report Posted December 5, 2011 Send that sucker off to ADCO, and have them shorten/rethread the barrel, as well as re-profile it to a lighter profile. That will probably be much cheaper than even getting a new barrel. <thumbsup>
unforgiven Posted December 14, 2011 Report Posted December 14, 2011 Had mine shorten it hurt like hell....oppps wrong barrel. :o
