First ar10 probably 100 rounds down it. Running suppressed just put an adjustable block on there. I figured since I reload for bolt guns I might as well do the same for the ar10. But I ran into some problems. aero m5 308 20" tbac 7 starline lrp 168eldm imr 4064 fed 210m Redding premium FL die set I started prep on the brass flash hole debur, debur, chamfer. I read on starline that the brass doesn't need resized. I did a couple and both the virgin and re sized chambered. Seated a dummy round which came out to 2.798. Pulled the charging handle back and let go slowly, bolt didn't fully lock up so i pulled it half way back and let it go. Chambered and ejected fine. Some scratches on the ogive but chalked that up to happening when ejecting a couple times. Any time i let the bolt release go on the mag and dummy round the bullet measures 0.001 longer. Is this going to be a problem? I measured the neck tension and i was about ).003 almost 0.004. I am all ears i just stopped until I could get more information. 98Z5V Posted April 16, 2022 Report Share Posted April 16, 2022 You always crimp semi-auto rounds. Any round that's gonna go through a semi-auto. Setting neck tension - that's bolt gun shiit, and not meant for semi's. Crimp. The recommendation of the Lee Factory Crimp Die is the best recommendation you'll ever get - there's nothing better. You're hand-cycling these, and finding the length 0.001" longer. Wait until you start firing, loaded like that, and the rest of the rounds in the mag suffer from bullet setback - and that increases the pressure on each cartridge... That's kind of what i figured and that is why i stopped what I was doing to get some betting information. Looks like i'll be getting a lee factory crimp die today. Thank you guys for helping me out.
