Glockslap
Suggestions on the lightest 16 inch barrels out there in 7.62x51 It would be nice if they were match grade, fluted, and threaded for a FH. I am looking over at Brownell's which has an 18 incher (non fluted but threaded) weighing in at 2.4 lbs. I'm wondering if that is my best bet, then send it to ADCO to chop & flute? <munch>
Robocop1051
DPMS makes a lightweight contour 16" barrel. I've heard that fluting a finished barrel is a big 'no-no'.
survivalshop
Just have one made to your spec's . There is a minimum to cut a 308 bbl. down to, including the flutes . You may get a lighter barrel with out the flutes . Flutes are cut into a HB to lighten it & try to keep the stiffness of the HB . Oh and yes to cool it quicker . Bla Bla Bla I'm not a fan of fluting a bbl.., as you can see. I would make a comment about the stiffness of a barrel ,but some of the people here would , how can I say , take advantage of me , for the comment. <laughs>

planeflyer21
I'm amazed at how slender the Germans get those hammer forged barrels on the .223s!You'd think they could do something similar with the thirty cals.Jon
