DMPS LR308 part confusion

Hi Guys

I'm really new to LR380's /Ar10s and I'm quickly finding out that unlike AR15s the parts can be all over the place and vastly less interchangeable.

Read through this forum post a few times:

I was given a new unfired DMPS LR380 trying to identify it so that i can locate parts for it.

From the thread: " Well, this is interesting. The height of my upper above the charging handle is ½ inch.  Mine isn't even listed on the G II brochure. Where do I go from here? "

Which seems to be my case as well from my measurements. I'd like have either a height matching rail or maybe a smooth hand guard with a gas block and rail that I can attach a MBUS site on.  Likely long term I'll be putting a scope on it rather than a red dot, but I'm not wholly sure yet.  Just looking for some options to play around with as well as any information on the rifle itself.  It shoots stupidly well at the range this last weekend to 100 yards, only had 15 rounds available.

Measurements (not sure its needed or not):

  • Overall - 37 3/4
  • Barrell - 16 (maybe? depending on how you measure. I'd guess its an 18' counting the amount of the barrel in the upper itself)
  • Handguard - 6 1/8 (plastic to plastic)
  • Gasblock:
    • Width: 1 1/8
    • Length: 1 7/8

Sure looks like the DPMS slick side target upper. Someone has put a 16" barrel on. I am pretty sure no one makes a rail that is the same height as that upper. Most of those guns came w/a round aluminum free float tube.

They were selling for cheap a while back. Correct, no rail matches. Think it is a Remington.

Be hard to match that up without machining a riser block. But on the good side you have a shooter. I'd go with an illuminated 1-8x30 or something like that, leave the rest alone, and count it as a win!

Thanks for the information.  I'm 100% positive its a stock unmodified by the original owner.  However that said, I'm almost positive like you both said there is not going to be a foregrip that will match up with the rail after doing some more research. I think i can get close but it wont look right, likely going to go with a smooth foregrip and only the scope.

At my age and stage, an illuminated recital is going to do nothing but helpful.  Got any recommendations on a scope or two that wont break the bank?
