KSdefender Posted November 28, 2024 Report Posted November 28, 2024 Glad the S&W AR-10 I got is stamped for both .308 & 7.62 x 51. Takes the guesswork out of it for me! I bought this rifle a few years ago and still have not been out with it. Perils of ageing. Might go on the block soon. Y'all have a wonderful Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year!!!
AngelDeVille Posted November 29, 2024 Report Posted November 29, 2024 The only firearms I would really be concerned about are the Spanish mausers and the CETME 58. I wouldn’t shoot 308 out of those. I haven’t seen either of those rifles in the wild for a long time.
98Z5V Posted Thursday at 06:57 AM Report Posted Thursday at 06:57 AM I've preached this for years - about 15 or 16 of them here. .223 Rem vs. 5.56 NATO. What you see here is the direct opposite for .308 Win and 7.62 NATO. I stand by that. Both statements. They touch on that.
Belt Fed Posted Thursday at 12:31 PM Report Posted Thursday at 12:31 PM Do they even make rifles now with only 223 and 308 capabilities?

I don't think there's a single AR manufacturer left anymore that's still chambering .223 Rem. It's just bolt guns, now. For .308 Win chambering - it's almost everything on the market. Hardly anyone at all chambering 7.62 NATO. For 5.56/.223, the chamber that's taken over that market by far is .223 Wylde. It's a mix of .223 Rem and 5.56 NATO, with a leade dimension that's in between .223 Rem and 5.56 - you can shoot whatever you want through it, and it's more inherently accurate than 5.56.
