Scratcha
Hey everyone,Hopefully y'all had a good weekend. It's been hotter than Georgia asphalt, down here in Florida!I was thinking about painting my Stainless barrel an industrial flat black. Has anyone tried this before? I like the Stainless barrels, but not for hunting; it can be too "glinty" at times. I don't know of a barrel coating that I could use. Flat black should be O.K. if it's done right. Thanks for the input!
survivalshop
I thought about that paint for wood stoves . Have not tried it . You are going to have to experiment on your own or send it off to be properly treated.I just think ya need some kind of high temp paint, maybe an engine exhaust paint ? Let us know what ya find , that works out in the field . What about the stuff that Brownells sells ?
98Z5V
DEI High Temp Exhaust coating - sprays right on. <thumbsup>The High Temperature (HT) Silicone Coating provides lasting protection for any hot surface up to 1500 degrees. DEI recommend the use of this coating with their exhaust wrap because it seals the material and provides lasting protection from oil, dirt and road grime. Don't limit the use to exhaust header wrap, this products works well on headers, blocks, starters and even on your grill at home.* Heat protection up to 1500°F* Penetrates, seals, protects and prolongs the lifespan of exhaust wrap * Many uses around the home and shop * 12 oz. cans All kinds of places carry it, but you can order it online, too. About $10 a can.
Scratcha
Well, I bought some Rustoleum High Heat, Flat Black paint. Wiped the barrel down really good with denatured alchohol; then sprayed about 4 light coats on. It came out good! I tried to scrape some off, it seems pretty durable, right now anyway. I will try to get some pics. on.Thanks for the suggestions everyone!
