bigfishyp Posted November 29, 2012 Report Posted November 29, 2012 Hey guys. Just traded for a Armalite ar-10. Grew up shooting bench rest rifles so I am not an expert on this thing yet. I purchased it to be able to do some range work and some hunting. 1. It is an A2 model and as I look around this site it seems like the majority are flattops. Is it a big disadvantage to run this setup? 2. Where do you guys recommend looking for an upper receiver? Seems like it is hard to find them for the armalites. Thanks for your time guys.
unforgiven Posted November 29, 2012 Report Posted November 29, 2012 Welcome form Indiana brother bigfishyp http://www.armalite.com/Catitem.aspx?Category=8be021dd-3f84-4aca-bfa1-afcb5ddcc9ba <dontknow> Stay all Armalite?
Rsquared Posted November 30, 2012 Report Posted November 30, 2012 Check out 762sass from time to time. Or Armalite themselve as Unforgiven mentioned. Uppers come and go. Though it seems like everything is kinda scarce these days.Nothing wrong with the A2 model. I've got one also. They're the typical original infantry design. Just like our beloved Mr. Stoner designed them. They shoot nice. They're actually quite accurate. And when it comes down to it....they're designed to hit "man-sized" targets at a variety of distances.Flattops are just easier to modify with optics and accessories. But it doesn't necessarily make them better....just a different tool in the toolbox.Just my opinion........for what it's worth.Ron
Rsquared Posted November 30, 2012 Report Posted November 30, 2012 Oh......forgot to say. I'm a BIG Armalite guy.
