Yep - big news when they released it, due to the common things you can and can't do with an "AR Pistol."  Due to the lengths of components used, and overall length, it's not a pistol.  Nor a rifle.

If that wasn't the exact size it really is, then it'd be a pistol, and you can't have a forward vertical grip on a pistol.
