planeflyer21
Alright!Got the handguard for the 2VA project, the Yankee Hill Machine 2-piece quad rail. Tried it out on the BCM upper and it fits like a tight glove!Lauer sent me a tracking number today. Those will be here later this week.Got some input from my daughter today...we're going to do the handguard, stock, grip, flash hider, and controls in pink, everything else will be in the goddess purple (dark!).Except that NiB bolt-carrier assembly.Jon
planeflyer21
The Dura Coat is here also. Can a person use brake cleaner to degrease the parts, prior to spraying?Jon
98Z5V
It helps to attack the parts with 400-grit sandpaper - hit as much on the parts as you can. Rinse with hot water. Get enough brake cleaner to submerge the parts for 15 minutes, and dunk 'em. Let them soak for the 15. Use gloves, pull the parts out, and let them air dry (won't take long, at all). Shoot paint. planeflyer21
Have you ever heated the parts prior to shooting the paint?Anyone got a recommendation on using extra hardener?Jon
98Z5V
Extra hardener changes the finish, but doesn't necessarily "make it more durable." There's some online instructions for the stuff that goes over that part of it. I don't heat parts before paint. Which Duracoat did you get - bake on or air-dry?
