392heminut Posted January 10, 2014 Report Posted January 10, 2014 I found that imr is harder to stay consistent in my rcbs pow measure over varget. Some were 2 gn less and 2 over - 7 loads out of 130 I won't use stick powders in my Dillon because of the inconsistencies. I used to load 223 with IMR 4895 but gave up on the stuff because of the variations. I didn't know all IMR powders were stick, which is why I asked. I've been doing great with H335 in .223 and Varget in .308, they are spherical powders and meter extremely consistent. I have 4 lbs of Varget I picked up at the Ft. Bliss Rod & gun Club a few months ago and I just picked up an 8 lb. jug of H335 in Las Cruces last week. I should be okay for a while yet. I also have a pound of CFE223 I came across a while back. I haven't tried that powder yet so I'm interested in seeing how it groups in my rifles.

It can be wonderful in a variety of cartridges, but it's a stick. I've found AA2520 and TAC to be outstanding ball powders in the 7.62 and 5.56.
