TacBlade Posted January 9, 2011 Report Posted January 9, 2011 I have a JP and had the same problem. Mine was very tight and had to be pryed out.
Matt.Cross Posted January 9, 2011 Report Posted January 9, 2011 I just did a video and will post it up in just a few minutes.

TacBlade Posted January 9, 2011 Report Posted January 9, 2011 Well, I have been taking ar15s apart since 1986 and .308's are the same. My deal with the JP bolt was that the bolt cam was hitting the gas port and would not come out. Still, after firing it about 200 rounds now, it is still hard as hell to get that bolt cam pin out. I guess its just an isolated problem with this bolt and carrier. I just have to pry it out with a little screwdriver. I really hate it when I have to take a screwdriver and pry on a $500 piece of art?
imschur Posted January 9, 2011 Report Posted January 9, 2011 I have a colt AR-15 carrier thats very difficult to get the cam pin out of
Matt.Cross Posted January 9, 2011 Report Posted January 9, 2011 I really hate it when I have to take a screwdriver and pry on a $500 piece of art?I feel your pain man, I'm the same way. Could it be tapped out with a pin punch and little brass mallet?
TacBlade Posted January 9, 2011 Report Posted January 9, 2011 Where would I put the pin punch? No holes on the other side?
Matt.Cross Posted January 9, 2011 Report Posted January 9, 2011 Where would I put the pin punch? No holes on the other side? :oGood grief, that's terrible design. Why in the world would they put a blind pin bore rather than all the way through?
imschur Posted January 9, 2011 Report Posted January 9, 2011 TacBlade, please get us a picture.Do you see something that looks like a screwdriver slot?
TacBlade Posted January 9, 2011 Report Posted January 9, 2011 I think we ar talking about 2 different parts here?
Matt.Cross Posted January 10, 2011 Report Posted January 10, 2011 I'm with imschur, I'd be interested in seeing a pic of your BCG from the ejector port side.
TacBlade Posted January 10, 2011 Report Posted January 10, 2011 I am not talking about the pin that retains the firing pin inside of the carrier, but the cam pin that comes out after you pull the firing pin out of the carrier? Let me take pics.
TacBlade Posted January 10, 2011 Report Posted January 10, 2011 First pic is the retaining pin that holds in the firing pin and it does have a hole on the other side and yes, I drew that circle freehand. LOL!!!Second pic shows what I am talking about and there is no hole on the oposite side to push it out?
Matt.Cross Posted January 10, 2011 Report Posted January 10, 2011 Oh ok, I know exactly what you're talking about now. You could roll up emery cloth (or wet-use sandpaper) and use it to very lightly polish the bore in the bolt/extractor assembly, make it a little easier to remove. You wouldn't have to get real agressive or anything, just very light and even polishing to loosen the fit ever so slightly. We were referring to the firing pin retainer pin(#14), whereas you were speaking of the cam pin(#6) as shown in this diagram.Edit: Woops, posted late!
