  1. I've heard stories, true or not, about people getting arrested with having an m16 FCG but not installed and they were charged with constructive possession with intent to manufacture an NFA weapon. from what I have read, the SSA and the SSF are the same, with the SSF being for full auto. video about the SSF
  2. http://www.usanodizing.com/ can match your color. they are the best price i have found around.
  3. lol, yes, Full Auto Fire Control Group.
  4. I wonder if the BATFE would classify the SSF model the same as having a FA FCG in your weapon?
  5. I think that will be my next build, find a preban lower and go hog wild. :o
  6. I have no complaints at all with the 16X Super Sniper on my .50 cal. shrugs off the recoil no problem, and has held zero with over 100 rds so far. $300 and well worth it.
  7. where do I begin?? last week I received my GMM ammo, my Geissele DMR trigger, this week my Miculek 308 muzzle break (which needs to be permanently mounted, I hate this stupid AWB crap), my YHM QDS sight set w/ gas block riser adapter. next week my complete upper should arrive as well as my lower coming back from US Anodizing., Oh and just ordered a bunch of stuff from Sinclairs today. Christmas in March at my house! ;D ;D
  8. Ok, I live in new york state and cant have mags that hold more then 10 rds that are made after sept 94. Has anyone converted preban m14 mags to work in the LR-308? or am I stuck with the 10 rnd mags?
  9. http://www.maxicon.com/guns/optics/one_piece/ar15_onepiece_mounts.htm A lot of helpful info here.
  10. Im leaning toward the Yankee hill set YHM-5040 QDS , they lock in both the up and down position, thats why I like them.
  11. not bashing or anything, just curious, why did you decide to go with the extra high rings? you have plenty of clearance to use a lower set bringing it closer to the bore centerline? again not bashing just wondering. ;D
  12. this is my CCW S&W 629 44mag w/ 3" Bbl
  13. I don't know if this is of interest to others here but being from PRONY (peoples republic of new york) I can't have more then 10 rnd mags. but I did find this for those of us behind the lines. http://www.calegalmags.com/mapm207na3re.html
  14. The 80% lower and machining fixture I got here http://www.tacticalmachining.com/ as far as the specs, the FCG pocket is the same dim. as an AR15. but the fixture has all the info you need right on it. If anyone cares to do their own like I did, I would be more then willing to loan the fixture out as long as I have some sort of guarantee on its return. I know that with all I have spent on the fixture and 80% lower I could have had a factory lower, but then it wouldn't be mine. There's something to be said for doing it yourself.
  15. http://store.countysportsllc.com/federal308win175grbthpsierramatchkinggoldmedalmatchgm308m2.aspx shipping on 100rd was only $7.78
  16. I don't have it yet, but I'm going with the Vortex Viper PST 6-24x50 FFP with mil/mil. Not in a hurry though, still working on the build. ;)
  17. has anyone tried federal GMM 175 gr yet? I am real curious to see how it performs in the LR-308.
  18. got the engraving done, now its off to US anodizing for Milspec type 3 hard coat ;D ;D
  19. I did the machine work myself and as for the engraving, I have a friend with a cnc mill, he is going to do it with this build. I have used http://www.orion-arms.com/gun-engraving/welcome.html in the past though, they do awesome work.
  20. well I finally had time to work more on my build. took my time really, no rush because Im still waiting for the back ordered upper. next step is engraving and off to hard coat anodize.
  21. That's interesting, the carbine length does cause excess pressure in the system? seems like the 308 would cause a lot more gas then the 6.8?
  22. http://www.44mag.com/ for .99 cents extra they disassemble them for "rebuild kits" for the high cap ban states.
  23. I have been thinking about this for awhile now and decided to ask for the groups input. I purchased a Kotonics 6.8spc upper awhile back, but before doing so, wanted to read up about the 6.8 round. In doing so I came across several articles about the proper length gas system for the 6.8spc and the use of carbine length systems. In short, the thought that the carbine length is too short for the 6.8s added powder volume and the use of intermediate or longer gas systems is recommended to avoid excessive gas pressure inside the gas system. My question is this, Is the gas system on the 16" and 18" LR-308 a carbine length or intermediate? Not having my LR-308 yet, (still acquiring parts) I don't know what the actual length is.
  24. yeah, I did find that one, unfortunately I need one for .936 :-[
