  1. SO what is your kit gonna be used for ? I'm huge into Kits, but find that some only run light when they are out at the Range for a day of "plinking". Plinking is still training ?, right ? So wouldnt one want to wear the kit they intend to be wearing for whatever their purpose with it is ? TT is good kit, I have 4 of the 308 open topers, I use 2- on one of thier belts w/ a paraclete horizontal GP pouch. My chesty; is 3-OT pouches, more right then center, radio, and med kit to the left, on the right is a SOE GP. I'm looking to pos. get the SOE mookie MOLLE light for a new kit.
  2. Refitting my currently AR-10. Have a Badger Ord Stab in the mail. Looking into Noveske 21". Adding an ARMS SWAN sleeve and medium ARMS # 22's ( as I want to secure my PVS-14 w/ the new TNVC twist mount and the ARMS high rings are off a bit, + needing to move my scope forward in-order to mount the 14, better w/ the sleeve then just to the upper ) And last I might invest in the ATLAS ver 8 bipod
  3. Thanx guys but I was / am looking to go a "cheaper" route. So many options, whats the newst flavor of cool-aide this week ? ?... I am currently diggin on the Badger Ord Stab. I like the squared look. I might give it a go and add the ARMS SWAN Rail ( OSR ) just to give the Scope some height for a cheek pad or to use my PRS. It's all cosmetics anyway...
  4. WOW small world for us NUKE GUYS. Echo much the same. But I'm a former 19D / CAV SCOUT and am cuirous as to what is "advanced" Armor that FKx offers. I was an IT there in the 90's for 1st ATB and 16th CAV. ( I kidd ) small world.... I get to continue some training this comming year at the Former BW North facitity at their MIL / LE Sniper school. cant wait.
  5. OK. Posted videos' of me at the Shoot; http://www.youtube.com/user/TANGO2072?feature=mhum
  6. To my fellow Armalite-fighters. I currently run the SASS Rail system on my AR-10. Wondering if it is at all pos. to use either a ARMS SWAN or PRI upper "uni" Rail on the Basic Armalite FF tubes ? ? I see from the basic design that where the locking ring is, the contour of the HG thins down, wondering if adding a 1913 rail, then attaching the afore mentioned "SWAN sleeve" would work. As I'm looking for an upper continuing RAS. As much as I'd rather just buy the PRI tube... just curious
  7. Shoot, on Turkey day 1- Being Thankfull for having a wonderful family... YES I prefer my in-laws to my own Mom and her husband. My Dad and his wife reside ( home ) in TX 2- Noone wanted to cook so we're headin out to eat. probably Cracker Barrel 3- Then, its off to 13hrs of work, so I get to duck out early from dinner. Then on SAT I'm hosting my Clubs Practical Rifle event... to work off the T-Day of eating. looks like it'll be sunny and 31 up here in IL-stink'oid
  8. Well, that was me in the vid if that wasnt already made clear. Honestly that was my 1st time using my AP-H-1 aside from when I zero'd her and I was out of my usual BH 168g and was using Rem 150g. So my POI was offset to my POA and I had no time prior to arriving to rezero it, so... I made the adjustments and moved-on. SLOW- ehh, yeah that was stage 2- of 3 most all others were using 223 so I figured w/ 308 1-shot 1-kill....hahaha but for the sake of it I plugged 2- into each. This was NOT a comp, just a monthly "practical" event we do to help hone some skill sets. I'm hoping this months, being I'm stocked on ammo, I'll be able to run the stages faster and more accurately. But, a Full size 40in / 15lb 308 AR-10 is dam heavy, I LOVE IT...
  9. Hey guys... Here's a vid of the Aug PR shoot at one of the stages. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OSIpPW7I9Dc?version=3 All rounds hit if not center mass on the full exposed targets then upper shoulders of the "hostage takers". Areas I intended to shoot, as I was using my Aimpoint H-1 w/ 150g as she is zero'd w/ 168g. Our next shoot is NOV 27. Im hosting and hoping I'll be able to get decent weather here and someone to vid all stages. should be a hoot
  10. So I figured I'd necro-post my own thread.... been awhile, been busy, playing at the Range. due to hic-ups in the money world, I decided against upgrading it. here she is as of recently; Found a Gun Club and joined it in March, we have a 600yd range. So I spend my time out there with a few IPSC targets...
  11. The ASC Practical Rifle shoot on 08/28. The Aurora Sportsman Club is located 60+ miles west of Chicago, out in Waterman, IL. Figured, being I ran my SR-AR-10 for this. I'd post what we got to shoot. The course of fire was as follows: 3-stages / attendees broke up in 2- Groups. 100yd Stage: 6- IPSC targets staged at about the 50yd line and 1- steel 9x14" IPSC at the 100yd berm. Shooter stood in a 4x4 box and engaged each target w/ 2-3 rounds. 1- round hit on the steel only. 50yd Stage: 13- IPSC Targets, 3-sets ( L, R, Cntr ) 4- dont shoot the "hostage" ( 2- at leftside set and 2- at rightside set ). 1- Center target group had mid torso behind "hard-cover" Shooters were allowed to start their shoot from the center firing line or move to Window cover ( L / R )and engage. Then at their discretion were allowed to shoot while moving to the other position. 50ft Stage Here Shooter had to engage 7-targets. 4-targets behind soft cover ( plastic barrels ). All-n-all everyone had a good time, well atleast by what i saw and heard from those in my Group. Was a 1st for some shooting in this kind of enviornment. We're hoping to see more shooters attend. Even if that means we're shooting in the coming winter months. "BAD-guys" dont stop coming in bad weather... see yall out there. Keep shooting
  12. UPDATE got my cut barrel ( 18" ) Now I just cant decide if I dig on the Surefire 308 brake or the straight sleek look of the cap ? ? ?
  13. Got my Barrel back today from Steve @ ADCO. AWSOME JOB. Now.... I just cant decide if i like it with a barrel knurled cap or the Sufire 308 brake. BOTH are DAM SEXY. Ill post pics tomorrow as Im at work tonight.
  14. ;D Ghillies ? whole kits or just toppers ? I dig on them. I once had a Tactical Conealment VIPER HOODY. took me close to 60days to dress it. I'm on the right ( w/ the ACU pouches ) My buddy and I down in TX for some training. Assiting some troops gettn ready for deployment in 2007.
  15. I've got the LaRue 1.5 SPR and have a set of ARMS # 22 high. I like the individual ring sets vs the bases, like the LTs and AD out there.
  16. in talking with the wife-unit on WHY DID I PURCHASE a MILITARY TYPE Rifle I told her to save her ass from the ZOMBIES, she needless to say frawnd at me. So I've decided to take up COYOTE HUNTING out here in Mid-Northern IL (west of Chicago ). I havent fired anything but at Paper w/ my AR10. I've used Winchester 147 / 150gs. And some Hornady TAPT 168. I dig on the 168g. I too am cutting down my 20" to 18" and it'll be easy to reach out to 800yrds w/ her. NOW if only I can get to a Range with distance to test her out.
  17. DOUBTFUL dont have a scale of any sorts in the house.
  18. So I'll be sending in my barrel to the ADCO guys and have'her cut down to 18". I also just placed an order for the Surefire 308 brake
  19. I was informed that going to 16" is NOT a good idea. 18" is. The gas system becomes unreliable.
  20. Considering having my 20" cut down to 16" from ADCO. ( 65$ ) But Im concerned about Ballistics ( performace ). With the Gas block / tube being that length ( 13" i believe )
  21. Wondering if anyone has a good lead on where to read up on Ballistics vs Barrel Length. I am looking to convert my AR10 from 20" to 16". ( honeslty cause I dont have access to a Range with more then 110yrds at best to shoot at ). So Im looking for more of a "Battle Rifle". I am curisous as how a 16", 18" measure up to distance out of a 20". Using either 147 or 168g.
  22. OK, so I used "pimp my gun" to build my AR-10 converstion; the only items that arent to specs are the forend. As I want a PRI Gen 3. And the bipod feet will be claws, from Phoenix tactical. Here's how she looks as of today; I'll be switching out the Black MIAD for an FDE one. Its just what I had laying around. I've placed an order for the MIAD wedge too.
