  1. Ahhh so it's just to ensure that the rings aren't tweaking the scope a little and therefore tweaking your aim through the scope. How did you make yours Drew?
  2. Just out of curiosity, what is your favorite reloading powder? Any major preferences such as Varget, or one of the other Hodgden powders, or some of the IMR powders, Reloder by Alliant Powder? How bout brass or primers? While we are here...what about die kits and other equipment? Any particular favorite brand in presses and scales?? Hope you don't mind bein pumped for answers :)
  3. wellll that MIGHTa been a little tmi but alrighty then, i guess i got my answer lol
  4. what do you mean by lapping?
  5. Looks great, keep the updates comin cuz I might have to follow your lead sometime ;D Is it anchored to the wall behind? Or is it sturdy enough to be able to beat and bang somethin around on the vice or torque down on a cartridge sizing die?
  6. Well I played the mad scientist this afternoon and cooked up a few loads with a buddy's help. We loaded 50 Lapua cartridges with CCI #34 primers, 44.5gr of Varget, and topped it off with a Hornady Match 168gr BTHP seated to an overall length of 2.8. Then we loaded 50 Hornady Match cartridges with CCI #34 primers, 42gr of Reloder 15, and topped 20 with Hornady 168gr AMAX, 15 with Hornady 165gr Interbond, and 15 with Hornady Match 168gr BTHP; all of them seated to 2.855 for a more snug chamber fit. We also reloaded 18 odd cartridges with 44.5gr of Varget and topped 10 with the AMAX bullets and 8 with the Interbond The only immediate problem was where to store all these loads separately, so I started loading them into clips. The C-products mags were good for any of the loads but I found out that the 2.855 lengths were about .02-.03 to long to fit into the factory DPMS mags. I haven't been able to shoot any of the new loads as the weather here in Oklahoma took a nasty turn this weekend with high wind and snow :-\ I hope to be able to get some shooting done soon though.
  7. Any chance I could get specific recipes for varget and/or reloader 15?? I have Hornady 308 win match brass and Hornday match 168gr bthp. Another question I had was about the seating depth since most any recommended depth is for bolt guns. Didn't know if it might need to be seated a little more shallow in the semi auto
  8. Awesome, I use everything but the dental picks and solvents....what do you do with them??? I got everything cleaned like I wanted except the gas tube. The pipe cleaners I have are about three inches short of getting all the way to the end and I would rather not have to punch the roll pin and take the tube off everytime I want to clean it. Do they make cleaners long enough to go all the way through? (I haven't looked, these were just what I had on hand) For the cleaning agent I have gunslick ultra-klenz, foaming bore cleaner, ultra-lube, gun-seal, and gun-dri. Brake cleaner and Prepsol eh? Might have to look into those. Thanks guys Dustin
  9. I was curious what some of you gun gurus out there used for cleaning in tight, small places. I just took my bolt carrier apart to clean it and as I'm sure many of you know, it's not the easiest of cleaning jobs.
  10. oh n how's this for a couple range pics?? OPEN range ;)
  11. lol, welllllll actually yes, I am a direct tv subscriber; and yes, that is the old pre-existing dish that used to be on my house >:D
  12. I believe it's just a modified stock tube actually. I bought the gun at the wanemacher gun show last April and that's the way I bought it. I have looked into getting a free float with just a bottom rail, but I haven't found many; and the ones I did find weren't the cheapest.
  13. This was a few months ago at approximately 300 yards. I went shooting with three buddies of mine on some private land and we had my LR-308 and a Remington model 700 bolt action 308 along with 243. Not the greatest grouping but good enough for me to be happy with it....for now ;D (oh and a lot of these hits were with the argentine ammo I posted about in the ammo section just to give a little better perception to my description)
  14. Finally gettin around to gettin some pics of my gun up
  15. now Drew, How in the world do expect to get that 100th member if they see what the prize is???? You don't have to be a member to see the posts you know....
  16. If any of you guys do try some of the argentine surplus, I would like to hear your shooting results if you don't mind. I love the stuff for just plinking around and have had pretty good accuracy with it so I would like to know what some others think of it.
  17. If you are still looking at the American Tactical Imports ammo then Ammunitiontogo has it here for 469.95 per 1000http://www.ammunitiontogo.com/catalog1/advanced_search_result.php/search_in_description/1/keywords/308/sort/2a/action/buy_now/products_id/2999
  18. Not a bad lookin gun there (I have to say I like the look of the heavier barrels like my LR-308 a little better tho ;D) Glad to have ya none the less
  19. So what you are saying is that anyone without an nfa licence should even consider getting the ssf unless they are willing and ready to face the consequences :)
  20. Personally, I won't touch wolf, silver bear, brown bear, or any of the other ammos listed there with a ten foot pole
  21. Ahhhh yeah, I've seen that before lol. That is a very good question because I toyed around with buying one on Brownells and I didn't buy one but I went about as far as I felt comfortable with the order process without actually placing the order and never came across any buying restrictions or such things that might be expected with something like that.
  22. I was thinkin about buyin a couple things from Brownells so I looked around the net and came up with these coupons: LA1, 10% off on orders of $150 or more; CMK, Free Shipping on orders of $150 or more; EAH, $5 Standard Shipping on orders of $100 or more. I didn't end up buying anything but I went all the way through the check out to where I could put a coupon in and the LA1 code worked. I didn't test the others and I don't know if they are case sensitive or when they expire but I figured maybe someone would appreciate them.
  23. I believe they throw that .308 in there because of this line "May be installed in AR-style .308 rifles that accept AR-15 triggers." Which, to my knowledge, doesn't include very many 308 rifles at all :-\ Draco, what do you mean FA FCG? Probly gonna be one of those duh questions but I can't think of what it would be past fully automatic...lol
  24. Just placed an order for my SR gold trigger from PACT and ordered a Magpul PRS stock and a couple boxes of Hornady TAP 168g from Botach Defence a few days ago.....can hardly wait!!
  25. Man I would be reallly tempted to buy one of those is they had a 308 model, they seem pretty cheap for a Geissele. That SSF model would look pretty tempting to but it's the same problem, not made to fit LR-308's.
