I'm getting dents in my case necks during ejection?
Jgun replied to TacBlade's topic in General Discussion
I have a .308 Galil that puts a big dent in the side of the case right at the mid point of the case, and as far as I know there's no adjustment on the AK style gas system. I wish my cases looked like that. I've been told by people that it should be safe to reload them anyway but I just can't bring myself to go to the trouble to load them and have a bunch of dented reloads. -
Nice score Tacblade. I;ve been looking at the 870's for a while because I don't own a pump gun, but I've never seen that good of a deal, and almost new no less.

I guess I need to choose my words more carefully. Beautiful guns imschur, do you have a favorite? (AR-15)

I'm a self taught tinkerer, I'm comfortable at this point fitting a slide and barrel to build a 1911 but not sure if I'm ready to build an open gun yet. I have found the AR's to be simpler to work on than the pistols, I also have access to machine tools so I can make certain parts when needed. I made the red dot mount on the last gun pictured and I made the hand guard on the gun pictured below. If your interested in learning more about building your own 1911's, I highly recommend the videos from American gunsmithing institute. You can rent them from Smartflix.com I rented "building the ultimate 1911" and found it to be very informative. If your looking to take the next step past swapping parts just rent the video, pick up some inexpensive components to start with and give it a shot. Good luck. I'm trying to work up the courage to try a bolt gun build.

I'm posting this in the hope that it may be of some use to the guys that are buiding on the MA TEN receiver set. I tried a Magpul BAD on my Mega carbine and it actually fit pretty well. It functioned without any mods but rubbed the bottom radius on the side of the lower. I threw it in the mill and clearanced it, but you could just as easily do it will a dremel tool if you were careful. I haven't fired the gun yet so I don't guarantee anything but it functions fine when I work the gun by hand and I don't think I've really weakened it very much. It actually tucks in better on the .308 than it does on my AR-15.

The SV trigger has a replaceable trigger "shoe" that allows you to change the part that your finger engages. They have just about every possible configuration you can imagine available. in defferent lengths to accomidate any hand size or lenght preference. I also find it annoying that they don't allow you to select your own parts. They also have come out with their own grip design (shown on the Open gun with the Cmore sight) which is proprietary so you are forced to use their mag release, and magwell, which I don't particularly like. I installed the Cape magwell on the other (limited) gun and much prefer the way it locks my hand in place on the gun. On the other, I love the texture of the new grip. Both guns are beautiful well made peices, but Sv doesn't sell bare frames anymore the way STI does so if you want to put something unique and individual together your out of luck with the SV. Thats one reason I used some of their parts to put this one together using a SV slide and an STI frame.

I'm a big fan of the SV Infinity guns. I find their guns and 1911 parts to be top of the line. They will build you a gun in any configuration you want, of course they won't use any parts other than their own. But as mentioned above your in for a long wait if you place an order to have one made to your specs.

rifle length. I bought it to use for the POF/DPMS build. Not sure what i'm doiing with that at the moment.

I have an 18.5" stainless barrel that I bought from Fulton armory. They list it as Criterion by Krieger, in matt finish, along with a .936" lo pro gas block from PRI that I might be interested in selling.

I was wondering if any of you guys could give me any advice on an optic for shooting 3 gun/tactical heavy metal? Some of my friends use the Trijicon TR24 on their AR15's and say that they're great scopes, but I'd like explore all my options before buying.

It's from Ace, I think it's called the hammer. Kind of like a CTR made of aluminum. Very well made but weighs more like a UBR than a CTR.

Thanks, No problem fitting the gas block, Just thought it might balance better with the shorter rail. I guess I'll see how it feels once I install the BCG and trigger. I plan to use this one to shoot the local tactical/3gun matches. I would appreciate any suggestions for a suitable optic. So far I've been advised to look at the Trijicon TR-24. Anyone use one?

This is the configuration so far. Unless I can get the shorter rail that I want, I may assemble it with the rifle length rail. I still need the BCG and trigger. I see that Rainier Arms has a new shorter rail made for them by Samson that is specifically designed to key to the front of the MA TEN upper. May try that.

I'm looking for a ahort Noveske AR-10 rail (10") for my short barrel carbine build. So far with no luck. I'd be willing to trade for the rail of your choice new in the box, or cash equivilant.

Well, based on your response, I'm causiously optimistic. I guess I'll just have to stay away from that Federal Ammo. Mine is a match barrel also, with 5R rifling. Thanks for answering.

Survivalshop, I was wondering if youve ever had any cycling issues with your 16"/ rifle length gas system setup? Ive been warned by a couple of people that I may have cycling issues with my 18"/rifle gas system setup, especially if shooting at higher elevation (the mountains). They tried to talk me into going with the shorter carbine gas block loaction. I'm figuring if you've had no trouble with a 16" then I should be OK with the 18".

I was wondering if anyone could give me a quick answer to this. I have an order going out from a supplier and they only have Armalite parts. I need a bolt catch and mag release (left side only not the spring or button) Anyone know if the Armalite parts will fit my DPMS pattern Mega lower and function without problems?

I also am planning my carbine build to shoot the local tactical matches where the max range I'm likely to encounter is 200 yds. This is what I have for the build so far. -
So, I finally got the barrel for the Kaiser build this week. I've been waiting so long I had almost given up on it. From what I hear Kaiser is no longer making .308 AR receivers so I'm not sure if I'll end up regreting using their set for the build. All I need is the ATC trigger and I'll be able to assemble it.

Based on my experience with thier billit AR-15 lower, which I used for my last build, I picked up one of Mega's MA10 sets for a carbine build I hope to do this year. It seems to be a high quality set. If the parts fit as well on the 7.62 as they did on the 5.56 it should make a great gun. -
I was wondering if anyone could tell me if the American Spirit Arms .308 AR lower receiver would accept the 7.62 Magpul mags. I was told by someone that it was an Armalite pattern rifle, but wanted to see if anyone else could verify that. I don't see any info regarding this on thier website.
