In California I have bad hips: http://kennesawcutlery.com/catalog/product.jsp?productId=175039 Yeah, I know...that is probably just as illegal as an AK47 there. Maybe this would be better: http://www.atlantacutlery.com/p-866-mace-cane.aspx Jon

Badger Ordnance - Dead Level Scope Leveling Device

DNP that's funny! My F-I-L was maintanence at a large assisted living facility. They got in twenty or so framed prints, which were to be hung in the hallway. He borrowed a level from the guy next door (sister facility) as he had taken his home. After hanging all the frames with this other guy's level, a nurse came down the hall and said "All your paintings are crooked!" He argued it, showed her with the level. She said "I don't care what your little bubble says, those paintings aren't straight." So he told the guy about the conversation when he returned the level. Dude says something like "Yeah, it's adjustable. Look here," then showed him he had used it for some sort of slope at a few degrees. Good stuff. Jon -

Ok...I missed the Lyman press someplace. One issue I have is not listening to others, when they tell me why something won't work. When you go to the progressive, as someone already mentioned, loads that did great on single-stage/turret may not be with a powder that meters consistently on a progressive. I did a great 9mm load on single-stage, on the auto-press got a 2gr deviation in powder drops...that is HUGELY monumental in 9mm! Did a couple of shots in my LC9 that felt WAY over powered...turns out, they were. Pulled 70 rounds and weighed the powder charges, which verified the 2gr deviation. Thing is, when getting everything set and adjusted, my jostling the press a bit gave me good powder throws with the large flake powder. Same with the check rounds...stop the case feed, insert the case to be checked, catch it before it gets kicked out...just enough extra movement to get the powder to drop properly. Plenty of people had warned me about large flake powder on auto-/progressive presses. Had to learn it for myself. Jon

The Thermolds are identical to the RRA polymer mags, just don't say RRA on them. The RRA magazines come with a paper stating "Due to the progressive improvement to the design of the LAR-8 magwell, some magazines may not drop freely from all LAR-8s and/or may require filing of the spacing tab." It also states that the locking tab may need to be filed so as to allow free movement of the bolt-carrier assembly. All 15 I ordered functioned 100% in the Elite Operator LAR-8 but needed adjustment of the locking tab on the standard Operator. All were good in both rifles with the spacing tab. Do note that polymer files really very easily, like a knife in hot butter! Keep your file straight and square to the tabs as you file! Most literally only took four passes with the file. Jon

I happened to catch the GG&G extended single-piece base/rings QD mount on clearance at MidwayUSA. Others may be a bit better but not at their clearance price! It is now $60 over what it cost me: http://www.midwayusa.com/product/718204/gg-and-g-flt-accucam-quick-detach-extra-extended-low-profile-scope-mount-picatinny-style-with-integral-30mm-rings-ar-15-flat-top-matte Jon -

If you remember during the 2008 primary campaigns, when Hillary was boasting about how much she goes duck hunting, Obama's response was "Now she's out there acting like Annie Oakley!" He shoots all the time alright... :bj: on Axlerod's face. Jon

Look for the contact info I posted for Camera Land in the glass section. A couple of us here have gotten the Vortex PST 4-16x50 FFP for $750 from them. $753 shipped and insured. Jon -

Learn from other people's mistakes...start with a single-stage press. One of my students was sold HARD by friends and stores on the Dillon 650. He loaded around 80 rounds and realized that he should have gotten a single-stage press. If you are worried about out pacing the single-stage in a month or two, get a turret press. Or the RCBS Rockchucker can have a turret conversion added later, the Piggyback II. Jon

Not until a couple of hours late. :hornet: I don't really care, so long as I understand what they're trying to say. But fornicate it irritates me when someone lectures someone else on "clips", then turns around and says "casings" or "straps". <laughs> Jack my own? Why not... My buddy was irritating people playing Alanis Morrisette over and over and over. He finally quit when I added lyrics about him. "Does he stress you out? His dildo's on backwards And inside-out! And you say Howowowow appropriate!" <lmao> Jon

Well, maybe not. The Wanted To Buy section got me to wondering, what have you bought that you thought you paid too much for at the time, which is now a bargain? For me, it is a Marlin 1894CSS. These are .357 Magnum lever-action rifles. Marlin aficianados had been hounding Marlin for a stainless version for years, when they announced it would be coming soon. With all the people clamoring for one when they were released, several on Marlin Owners had ordered them. I did too but my dealer said cash up front. Went to drop the cash off and he had charged it and had it waiting! <thumbsup> Cost a cool $675. Other people in a few months were paying $630 or so. I kicked myself a bit but still had bragging rights as the first person to lay hands on their own. :fawkdance: Marlin was then moved to Remington, problems to follow and the lever-gun production was halted due to QC issues. The rage then became to have a "pre-Marlington" rifle, stamped JM on the barrel instead of the oval around the REM. The 1894CSSs are still not being produced (even though they are listed on the website). They are routinely selling for $1,200 and up for the JM. Don't feel so bad now. ;D Jon

Full of hypocrisy. The same people that bitch on end about people calling magazines "clips", will in the very next breath talk about empty cartridge casings. No, not the skin-like things we fill with meat-mix, the empty brass cases on the ground. There's also the people that insist that semi-autos are the only pistols, ignoring the fact that Samuel Colt sold Peacemaker revolvers as pistols, as did Smith & Wesson, long before self-loading pistols were thought of into being. Bullets are the projectile portion of loaded cases, expelled out of a firearm's barrel. Quit telling people you loaded your magazine with bullets and you left empty bullets all over. Women's purses have straps and, while you may have a strap-on for your rifle, shooters use slings on their rifles and shotguns. So if you're going to ride the tampon over someone saying "clips" when referring to their magazine, at least get the rest correct too. :soap: Rant off. Jon
