It's quite the process, I wiped out a box of cleaning patches.........
-
Ok, Barrel break-In complete.
-
Ok, I've got my first 9 done and going for the 5 shot groups till I get to 30.....
-
Well the Appleseed site for Middle TN said they were using a reduced round count due to the ammo shortage(created ammo shortage to be correct) My young son and I are going, we're gonna take an AR15 and a .22LR that looks just like an M4(his rifle) they said bring 200 rds(per rifle) and yes I will give an AAR, it's not until the end of June though, so it will be a minute before I post, but I will, God Bless guys. I run single point slings that quickly convert to two point slings. Here's a link to them. I like his slings well enough, that I have 5 of them, they rock.

After reading this thread, I signed up for an Applesseed program here where I live at, I've had many recommend this program and a friend who is an instructor, thanks for the inspiration......
-
Zebra, thank you Sir, I believe I will clean mine now and finish the other 4 and then start the 10-30 process.....
-
Well I shot 2 rds through it like 2 minutes apart, then stopped, looked for the brass, couldn't find it, went to the house and got my son and came back and looked and then found it, this was like 10 min later, then let him fire the next 3 rds loaded into the magazine 1 rd at a time and this after getting up and checking our can, so it wasn't anything like rapid fire that's for sure. So would everyone recommend so more slow fire to break it in after cleaning from the first time or what??? Also, I shoot like say 5 rds and clean the bore and then do it again, would that be proper???
-
So I guess in my great anticipation of wanting to shoot this rifle I blew and it's too late huh? Plus, I don't even know what procedure to follow for breaking in a barrel anyways.
-
I have heard both sides of the story here, yes and no. I have had several new rifless in my lifetime and have never broken in a barrel, they have always been accurate too. What do you guys think this? I have shot 5 whole rds through mine as of this writing, so don't really think it matters at this point, but then again, it can be all "rocket scientry".......

Alright, rain and all today, I shot my AR10 for the first time this afternoon. As a matter of fact, first AR10 I've ever shot. Nothing fancy, no range, I just set up a big metal green bean can aprox 50 yrds away, I hadn't even adjusted the iron sights(they are all I have at the moment, waiting on scope to come in)just put them on, out of 5 shots, I hit the can 4 times, I was surprised. I cannot believe how easy this rifle is to shoot, I have shot an M1A of a buddy of mine and it had some recoil to it. I have been chomping at the bit to shoot it anyways, since this build has taken aprox 3 years to get done with and all the other things that seemed to be getting in the way of finishing it. I couldn't believe how easy the recoil was on it, wow. I can't wait to get my field cut where I have my range so I can properly zero my iron sights, man I have been like a kid in a candy store, now I have a big grin. Once I get my scope in and mounted, I will do some pics and list of parts. I appreciate everyone's help on this forum who gave me input, ideas, suggestions, etc. THANK YOU all! .

Alright, I got my Tungsten buffer in today and installed, nice looking piece. Super fast shipping by the way, if it ever stops raining, someday, I plan on trying it out. ^-^

Well LaRue Tactical sent me an email that I have around 3-8 weeks worth of waiting before I can tell you my thoughts, but I will, said it was backordered....... Unforgiven, yeah that rifle is a fun one, HIGHLY ACCURATE, but expensive to shoot and has a nice little kick to it, one of these days I'm going to buy a single stage reloading press just so I can be a little cheaper on taking it out to shoot it, instead of shooting store bought ammo.
-
Yeah I did, got it with the LaRue mount, I like GG&G, but they don't make anything in a 34 mm tube size. The price was like getting the mount for free, so made me happy, can't wait to get it. Thanks for asking.
-
Pretty cool, I will admit that I had to click the link to figure out what it was, :ugone2far:
-
Alright, my scope is ordered and I will post pics of my build when I get it and mount it on the rifle, it will be like icing on the cake. Then it will be time to go break him in, haven't fired a shot out of it yet...... :D

NoFail, I agree, the masses need a plan or at least stick together when something goes down......
-
I like the Tan/OD one, in a sticker I would take 2, 1 in a T-Shirt, I do also like the Last rendition as well, I would do the same on that one as well. Here's a thought, you did the ATACS, let's see what in looks like in MULTICAM.
-
I agree with EasyEJL and Planeflyer. They may want that, but they wouldn't win, even putting their talking head pundits in the "Lamestream Media" villanizing everyone and thing against their agenda and trying to sway the masses to get behind them. They really I think have under estimated how many 2ND AMENDMENT advocates are in this country. They would relish the opportunity to take away gun rights among other things, I would say almost instantaneously.......Just my .2c......

Alright Robo, I splurged and bought one of those heavy buffers to install, I hope it works well for what it cost, ouch. I, like you will be using it in conjugation with a CS spring, can't wait to get it and try it out. Thanks.

and the flyer he sent me: 2013 SIGHT-IN DAY AT AEDC IN TULLAHOMA, TN Sight in your Hunting rifles, Match rifles, Ninja Rifles, Vintage Rifles, etc. $20 Entry Fee Shoot 200, 300, and 600 yards There will be plenty of help from NRA coaches and advice from some of the best match shooters in the area MEMORIAL DAY MONDAY, MAY 27 100 % of Proceeds to help the MidSouth Marksmen Junior High-power Team for funds needed to compete at the NRA JUNIOR REGIONAL in Oak Ridge July 5-6 2013 REGISTRATION: 0900 UNDER THE PAVILLION AT THE NATIONAL GUARD RANGE COMPLEX at AEDC in TULLAHOMA, TN FOR RESERVATION and DETAILS PLEASE CONTACT TNSSA High-power Director/ Mark Long via email at marklong@tds.net or call 615-681-1710

Ok here is the details: Its that time of year folks, I have AEDC in Tullahoma, TN available to run the annual high-power rifle sight-in day set for Monday, Memorial Day, May 27. Entry fee is only $20 and proceeds go to help send the MidSouth Marksmen Junior High-power Team to the NRA Junior Only Regional at Oak Ridge July 5-6. I will open up the KD range and we'll shoot 200, 300, and 600 yards. Most folks don't get to shoot at distances beyond 100 yards so on hand will be high-power coaches, match shooters, and even some of our own juniors to help folks get on the paper at those distances. All you need is a 100 yard zero. So bring your hunting rifles and what not. I've attached a flyer. We've got "THE BEST" junior high-power shooters in the state and some of the best nationally. They deserve all the financial backing they can get as they get set to compete against teams from all over the eastern US this summer. So come on out and support our juniors and take some laps on the big KD range at AEDC. For more details contact Mark Long at marklong@tds.net or call 615-681-1710

Robo, so since I'm running a rifle length, I guess I would need this one here, AR10R-XH - 10 ounces. They also say not to run the David Tubb flat wire CS springs. I have run these springs for years in AR15's and NEVER a problem, always a perk when installing one of these. Installing one of these in my AR10 was like first order of business. I'm going to run mine with this buffer if this is the right one and I'm just looking for felt recoil reduction.
-
Thank you Robo, I believe I'll try that.
-
I don't know that part yet, there are a few more details to come, I spoke with Mark and he will be letting me know ASAP as he finalizes things and I will then post here.
-
Robo, have a link to the Tungsten buffer?? Does this help with recoil also? Interested. I have run CS springs in AR's for years and Love'em......
