  1. I hunt with a LR308 and I have killed elk and deer most people I run into have that OMG face when they see my rifle, and it leads to some heated arguments BUT i use the truth on them I say well lets see now your gun is based on a mauser or a infield and you just have to understand what is the next military rifle that will be intergrated into the hunting world? yep I say AR15 it has been in the military for over 50 years and the one I am carrying although not a original is based on the gun that was made before the M16... after that they go well that is true and they say it just looks wierd in the woods. I then tell them it does not rust, is easy to carry, easy to load and unload, and there are more accesories than you could ever use so you can make it just how you want it, I also tell them no wood to swell up in the rain and snow, by then they are like yeah wow I never thought of all that maybe I will have to get one..... :)
  2. Tried watching a hunting show on TV and just about got sick, first they have 40,000 bucks worth of gear and then they bait the deer or turkey or whatever or it is a canned hunt on a game farm. It seems to me it is all about money and the BIGGEST RACK! that in it's self is disgusting what has been a tradition in this country of hunting for food has now turned into exploitation of wildlife and in this country when something is deemed worth alot of money it is surley doomed! Have we as a society become that which we hate? everything is about money we are obsessed..... now what does this have to do with 308 well it seems AR15's and other modular type weapons are heading or already there to the same place and we are falling for it. Do we really need the latest best freefloat rail? do we really need 10 rifles or the latest scope ,or whatever the newest gizmo is?I say NO I say we are exactly what PT Barnum said we were suckers we fall for anything if it is packaged right, what is the saying"Stand for som ething or you will fall for anything" well i have been in the same boat as the rest of the world and now i think I will return to a more minimalistic approach. don't get me wrong I like stuff that works but after I have tested and tested and it works I am going to leave my stuff alone and put my money somewhere else instead of just spending it on the next best gizmo..... I am going to buy ammo...... :) The survivalist era is here and people are buying into it lock stock and barrel what used to be common sense is now being sold to us as a must have..... really? do you buy bottled water? I don't I refuse to pay for someone elses tap water! Ok I will quit but in ending my rant... let me say teach your children the right way to hunt, fish, camp(you know with a tent not in a camp ground that you pay for) try to have them spend less time on the internet and more time learning why this is such a great country and all it has to offer us out doors..... Peace

    freezer meat... :)

The Flag is My Fathers from his military funeral 30 year Navy man....Yeah I am a meat hunter too first and formost but only with mule deer have i always enjoyed the challenge of trying to get on the big ones, mostly it is a phyical challenge you first have to get where they live and this time of year that means snows and tough going but i love it. Man that plate full of food looks goooooooooooooooooooooooooood! had backstraps sweetmeat squash (out of the garden) and salad last night on my way to find a elk this am. last day....

  13. well not to big this year spent 20 days hunting 2 bucks that i never got a chance at so with one day remaining i took a nice fat forked horn to put in the freezer, 168 grain barnes ttsx like a laser.........
  14. sounds like a fun time we don't have Trick or treaters here just logistics 1 house every 1/2 miles is no fun lol....

  18. Our store bought food is all pretty much poison to our bodies, this thread has imploded so lets talk about food, and congrats on your weight loss... what goes into us will be reflected on the out and inside there is to much processed food for sale and we do not est enough veggies and fruit and the meat most people eat is really not fit for humans hamburger is known to be cleaned with amonia, my best advice is put in a back yard garden or greenhouse and eat from it all you can... buy organic veggies and fruits and can them for later use... hunt or learn to hunt lean meat is awesome protien and eat fish but if you have to buy it do not buy farm raised and also do not eat GMO's you will stay slim and you will stay out of the doctors office and speaking of doc's don't take any prescription that is not absolutly needed there are far more bad effects from meds if you have high colesterol work on your diet and walk, run , exercise in some way to bring it under control after all you are in control of your own life.....
  19. Well I bet you one thing I bet you are NOT overgassed after the Clean program!....... <thumbsup>
  20. Roger that .... will look there and forget Hydraulics just the answer I needed... thank you.
  21. well I can get a adjustable A2 front sight gas block but I would have to give up the A2 front sight if I used the switchblock and besides I do not ever see myself going back to loud my ears will not tolerate it anymore or what ears I have left 20% left ear 50% right.. and mine ring 24/7
  22. Ok so buffers and springs, and adjutable gas blocks... ok what are your thoughts on the JP interprises silent capture spring for both 5.56 and 7.62... So I will get a adjutable gas block for my 7.62 since that is my first can coming someday (wait wait wait)... lol I asume you just tune it to your needs , and by slowing the gas flow you slow down the bolt carrier and the ejection process all the while making your rifle smoother..... I am getting into this now it is way beyond just the gun.... fun stuff... thank you gentlemen..
  23. So I have been watching the magpul video's and there is one of the instructors that is gun a 5.56 barely shoots the brass out maybe 2 ft and i like that Idea as when in some postions the brass flying 4 ft bounces off of everything and every body so what can one do to slow down the force of the ejection and bring it under control... Buffer? spring, Jp interprises hydraulic buffer, adjustable gas block or something else? thanks
  24. two stamps on that one.... nice
  25. They (the politicians) simply have no ,NONE, zero, nada, connection to the people of this country nor their real needs, they continue to play power games and are always for themselves never the people who pay the bills.... I wish I had a easy answer but I don't we are in trouble and it will get worse before it gets better..... and that makes me sad....
