  1. I would love the 31 B very nice ... and I am sure I have said this somewhere in this thread but 11 years ago when that other president was in office , my wife of all people said we should have a few more pew pews around and so I set out to find a new rifle , one i could kill elk with and two was fun to shoot and three it had a common caliber. So on one of our shopping sprees, i walked into a pawn shop and asked what he had he said he had a brand new DPMS LR308 I said Hmmmmmmm let me see it . well if you knew me I am tough on weapons I use them and abuse them and me and wood stocked guns do not get along very well. So i am looking at this and I think looks just like my little 15,s but it weighs a lot more but it is all parkerized or Plastic I fell in Love no rain or snow or dropped down the mountain will hurt this thing so she cam home with me and has killed 7 elk in the years I have owned her and many deer shoots sub MOA with Barnes 168TTSX and just keeps on trucking.....
  2. Erics Tuner is a great tool but it is NOT! a fix all for hand loads you still have to do the work and find a good powder charge, then find a good seating depth node. Then you use the tuner /Brake to fine tune your load then you will have about as good a load as what your barrel and action can produce. Your crimps need to be consistent I mean to the knats a$$... as they effect pressure and that will in the long run effect your groups. Of course I am talking semi Auto guns here bolt guns are a different animal. That tuner will make a good gun Great and a great gun into a winning gun but !!!!!!! it will NOT turn crappy ammo into awesome ammo...
  3. Sounds like a unhealthy environment to live in Time to move!
  4. No law will stop any evil man or woman from doing what they want that is why we have the 2nd, it allows us to protect ourselves and our loved ones from evil no matter where it comes from...
  5. Well popping primers is a big stop sign BUT if the brass was primer crimped when new and you or someone else reamed it to big then it is hard to tell but the accuracy is whacked, I would recommend new brass and only use 20 of them for testing save they other 80 till you have a load that works, as for the function of the gun others here know way more about that than I ever will and will help you get that figured out . I would stick with the 168 range of bullet but I would not shoot the barnes till you have a good load they are to costly get some Hornady 165 ELD match bullets they are awesome and much cheaper... try some IMR 4064 and check your crown on that barrel. 10% below max and just get it cycling don't try max charges till you get the gun working properly then you can take good brass and do a ladder test with your choice of powders to find a good node to work from for accuracy... consistent crimping will produce consistent pressure. I think loading for semi auto's is harder than bolt guns... And take heed of what 98 said that Ramshot X-Terminator is to fast a powder for that 168 size bullet big pressure with that fast stuff ....
  6. That is the info i seek as well what powder? what primer and how much powder are you crimping enough to much? how old and what brass are you using how many times have they been fired? and what bullets and how much do they weigh.
  7. I set all my rifles ammo to a 2 thou setback(shoulder bump) and I have multiple dies as each chamber is a bit different . I also stick with 168 Grain Freedom seeds and for hunting I only use one ! the Barnes 168 TTSX simply put it is the best hunting bullet I have ever used on deer and elk sized game as for paper I do like the Hornady ELD's or the Berger Hybrids all within that 165 to 168. I also Like to set my neck tension with a mandrel NOT with the ball in a full length sizing die I take them out and use a Lee universal decapper the balls also stretch your brass if you have already trimmed to size... consistency is your friend.....
  8. Ok since no one has said it yet and I like lube! when these guns are new lube the ever loving crap out of them I mean dripping wet inside the upper gets extra as does the BCG . I like to soak my new BCG's in Mobil One synthetic oil I have a tray just for the purpose after a couple of weeks they will take no more oil and be very slick and also very easy to clean, there is a ton of surface material to mate up on these AR15 big brothers... good luck
  9. 98 is correct the 111 has no moa in it the OBr has 20 in the rail i use mine on both LR 308 and a bolt gun mostly on the bolt gun that rail has 20 MOA built in it To measure scope height measure from center of bore to center of scope rings that is the value you put in your ballistic solver..... How low you mount your scope on any rifle has as much to do with what your stock is like and what is comfortable for you to shoot, if your scope is 1/8th over the bore which is low and you can not get your eye aligned with it to shoot properly then that mount is to low so you will have to figure out your scope /stock /and how you mount the rifle to get proper scope height... your mileage may very .......
  10. Larue LT111 just bite the bullet and get one..... you will not regret it LaRue Tactical OBR QD Scope Mount, LT111

    Boats

you fishing nooks on the great lakes? or are you on the big water nice boat!
  18. Another tip looking at your pictures your rifle is dry as a bone in the desert, lube that thing like you own the lube company dripping wet and get a container and soak your BCG in Mobile 1 synthetic oil for at least two weeks , take it out to shoot but put it back in when you return home after the two weeks she will be slick and easy to clean... lube the upper and lower where the BCG rides marry those surfaces....
