would be nice to get a hogan forum going. I would be happy to introduce it with pictures of my build as it goes along.

Here is a photo of my build so far. Mine is the monolithic style that extends over the upper. I will find out what thread pitch the heat sink barrel nut is.

I rode a ktm 300 with one on it and I liked it. It didn't feel like it was there. But then again I am a slow 250B rider and not an expert racer. Geoff Aaron seems to do pretty well on them as well. There are extra parts and its odd feeling something on the left side of your bike that you are not used to. If I had the $$$ I would invest in it but not before GOOD suspension and a rider course or 4.....

Called up Hogan. They said no problems with the tight fit. Apparently they are the chaisis builders for GAP. They did say if I felt it was to tight I could send it to them and they would investigate. They also told me that their rifles work better with the DPMS style barrel extensions over the AR10 type.

I have had good luck with the latest slightly corroded port to come down the line. Out of 500 rounds I had ZERO problems and one round I tossed due to the discoloration. It probably would have been fine but I decided to not risk it.

I am sure I could have pushed them together if I wanted. I just didn't want to get the extension in sideways and mar up my reciever. But now you got me thinking hard about pulling them back apart and seeing if I could push them together with force. I want this build to be right.

You could try but I got a sneeking feeling the only thing going boom would be the micro ;D

DPMS SASS Barrel and Hogan monolithic upper. They were exceptionally tight and I am sure i could have forced them together with both at room temp. But I prefer to do it the easy way if I can. Do you think there is a problem with my rifle ? Is there something I should be looking for ? Any advice/thoughts are welcome and appreciated.

I have found an oven on keep warm or *200F works MUCH better than a hair dryer. I had a tough fit on my Hogan monolithic upper and barrel that wouldn't go together at all with a hair dryer and freezer. I slapped the upper in the oven @ 200 and the barrel in the freezer. They were still a tight fit but went right together with a little pressing and torque on the barrel nut.

well that alteast answers a few of my questions ! Thank you ! The upper build parts kit would be great. But I guess I will have to do up my own..... Atleast I have my barrel in the freezer and upper with a hair dryer blasting to see if I can get those together to atleast make a little progress on my build...

Been searching the interwebs for a while now and have been looking at videos. I can't seem to find a .308/large platform specific forward assist ? Does it take a special FA or do I just install a standard AR15 FA ? Any one know of where I can get the dust cover, spring, circlip, and all in a single kit for this rifle as well ? Finding a rifle length tube, .308 buffer and spring has proven to be a bit of a challenge and I am dead set on the PRS stock so no else will work. Please help a knooby and guide me down the path to SUCESS !!! Oh yeah what are you guys using for gas tubes on your DPMS SASS barrels I have the block and barrel just no gas tube.....

Figured out that my FAL was never going to be 2 moa or less built up a rem 700 and was never really all that into it and was looking at spending big bucks to make it like I wanted. Then I realized that I can build up a nice sub moa semi auto for about what I was going to spend on making my 700.....

I will definitely post pictures when I get her put together. right now its just a big white box half full of good parts !!! I could finish it if my father would finish paying me for my FAL that I made him a STEAL on !! No worries though as dad supported me in my first 20 or so years of life so I guess I can wait !!!!

Been fumbling around searching for SR25 build tips..... Matt.Cross got me hooked up with this site !! Now I have a hogan billet upper n lower matched set, dpms SASS barrel, p-mags, and leupold mk4 and rings in my build box and more stuff in the next few weeks to get this sweet heart punching holes and knocking down white tails ! <thumbsup> I will post up some pics when I get it finished up !
