That JD Machine lower looks awesome, nice looking quailty. Any other lower manufactures you all recommend looking at that have not raised prices crazy. Not that there available now but when the craziness is over I would like to support them for staying true!

I'm so glad I read this thread. I've been looking at doing a AR-15 in 5.56 and getting a bigger caliber for hunting. Now that I know I could use a AR308 lower for a .243 caliber that's what I'm getting!! Thank you 308ar.com members!!! Unless that's a bad idea. Hunting purpose 90% of usage.

True. Local shop got in a LR308 wants 1295.00. going to check it out tomorrow. Really want a Fulton Armory but lord knows how long the wait will be.

This is what I've been told. 2000 doesn't seem to be a bad price for ability to switch out barrels on the same lower. Just have to search and read some reviews. Really would like to build one but I have NO idea of all the different piece or how to tune them. Headed to Barnes and Knobles to see if there any good books on walking you through the process. Can't seem to find a starting point just searching through the topics.

Well maybe not great. I've been mostly a bolt action gun hunter til a few years ago I got into archery pretty heavily but I've always wanted to own an AR platform gun. I've looked and read and have had alot of good advise from other sites just want to get a feel for everyones options on here. The main function of the gun will be hunting deer and some predators. I want to have the capability to shoot out to 500 yards and have a MOA of accuracy. Also to be able to switch uppers from something smaller .223-.243 for predators to a 30 caliber bullet. I have read some do this with a 15 platform using WSSM ammo and some just use the 10 platform with .243 and .308 which is fine to. Any input is greatly appreciated!
