  1. So you get stuck cases in both rifles or just hers? If there's no damage to the case rims you might have weak extractor tension which you can upgrade with stiffer springs.
  2. You'll either have to use hold overs or dial your elevation (after calculating your bullet drop per distance).
  3. I don't see a buffer system change degrading accuracy at all. The bullet exits the barrel before the BCG begins any rearward movement. That said, I don't see a heavier buffer offering you much value.
  4. If you already have an adjustable gas block can't you just turn the gas down till the system is gassed just enough to cycle, which would make the recoil softer?
  5. Damage Industries has a mil-spec 7075 (correct alloy) receiver extension for $20.85. Unfortunately, it doesn't have the dry film lube though (doesn't make a huge difference). Use code "SUMMER30" for 30% off. Shipping is like $5.
  6. It looks off-center from the top of the rail.
  7. Why doesn't your gas port look centered? Looks like it's more at the one o'clock position...
  8. No/not enough BCG movement back = no cocked hammer = no trigger reset.
  9. You might want to check your gas block and gas port alignment. When you take your gas block off, look inside it to see where the gas was really hitting. When you said you aligned things, did you align the gas block hole and the barrel gas port, or just the block itself to the shoulder of the barrel?
  10. Did ANY of the rounds cycle? Did the BCG move rearward at all?
  11. Take your BCG out of your upper, then push on the FA and look where it protrudes inside the upper. It pushes on the rear half of the carrier.
  12. Force of the FA was less than the friction of your bolt locking into the extension and round going deeper into the chamber. Could be due to tight bolt to extension fit, dirty extension, rough or improperly machined cam pin track, or lack of lube. Also, does your BCG have cut outs for the FA to push on?
  13. Does it only happen when suppressed? How does the rim of the case look? did the extractor tear the rim off?
  14. Well you kind of have to wait for your barrel to come in before installing it so you have some time haha.
  15. So I totally didn't realize this but Ayan will install URX rails you buy from him for free (you still cover sending him the upper and barrel though). Saw this on his facebook this morning:
  16. Option 2: Buy 18" barrel, send to Nefarious Arms (Marvin Pitts) and have him cut down the barrel to 16" and dimple it! That's what I did with my MWS 18" SS rifle-gassed barrel.
  17. That's outdated information. They stopped using plastic buffers a while ago. Pictures of the M110 collapsible stock kit clearly show an AR-10 length receiver extension and metal AR-10/AR-15 carbine buffer.
  18. The AR-10 system wasn't just whipped up out of thin air. Mr. Stoner worked with Knight's to fine tune the SR-25 into what he intended the platform to be. If you search around, you can find out Knight's results of testing LR308 vs AR-10 buffer systems. They did make SR-25 carbines at one point with an LR308 buffer system, but said that their testing showed reduced operating margin for the action spring, and thus stuck with the AR-10 pattern since the gun needs to work in the widest range of conditions. I'm sure LMT also did their homework when testing the MWS buffer system for maximum reliability. It also uses the AR-10 pattern with H3 buffer. When the two most widely adopted AR-platform .308 rifles (SR-25 and MWS) by modern militaries worldwide use AR-10 buffer systems, that says something.
  19. I guess it depends on if he wants something than handles well (16") unsupported or a bench rest rifle (18" or 20"). I assumed the former since the ECC is what it's modeled after.
  20. Agreed. Half the reason I bought my MWS was so that it would be compatible with a Knight's upper in the future if I can get my hands on one!
  21. BAD levers don't mesh well with flat triggers. Just something to be mindful of.
  22. For buffers I'd start out with an H3 weight buffer. Damage Industries has them for $28 right now with 30% off code "SUMMER30". If you decide you want an even softer shooting gun after trying the H3 you can try Heavy Buffers' HSS (6.5oz) or PWS' H4 (6.9oz) buffers. Both cost less than the CAR-10 heavy buffer. For the action spring you'll need the Armalite AR-10 spring. The nice thing about the AR-10 pattern is that the action spring is the same whether you use an A2 style stock or adjustable stock receiver extension. AR-15 action springs are not compatible with .308 ARs. With the 6-position VLTOR A5 receiver extension your SOPMOD stock will work just fine. Some Magpul stocks are large enough to close on the 7-position A5 receiver extension (STR, ACS, and ACS-L). Ayan is a great dude! That CMMG barrel has a .750" diameter. I haven't heard anything bad about CMMG's .308 barrels. I know Shibiwan has one. We like Geissele around here ;). You can get a G2S for $132 at Exile Machine.
  23. Good to see you've found this place (I replied to your post on M4C). What trigger are you planning on getting? I recommend that you pass on the KNS FCG pins. They're simply un-needed. Unless you're a smaller dude (<5'5") I'm going to recommend you go with an AR-10 buffer system again. There's simply no good reason to go with the LR308 format with HeavyBuffer's CAR-10 if you're building from the ground up. Those LR308 heavy buffers were meant for people who already have a LR308 format rifle and either don't know how to, don't have the tools to, or don't want to pay somebody else to convert to AR-10 pattern. Plus, if you look at the prices of the Heavy Buffers' buffers, the 6.5oz CAR-10XH costs $125 while the 6.5oz HSS AR-15/AR-10 buffer is only $75. CMMG makes a 16" rifle-gassed .308 barrel. It's also melonited. The URX 3.1 isn't picky. The Troy or other low-profile gas blocks will work just fine. www.boltcarrier.com says they'll be getting the SR-25 URX 3.1 back in stock in a few days.
  24. Rifle gas on everything 16" and longer. A heavier (larger outer diameter) barrel will have more rigidity and thus less effects due to harmonics over a thinner barrel. Whether or not you're good enough to expose the difference remains to be seen (it likely won't be a huge amount).
  25. I have a Storm im3100 and Pelican 1700 cases that I cut the foam for my AR-15 and .308 AR rifles. Everything else goes in cheap padded bags.
