  1. Standard engineering process is generally subdivided into a few phases. First is the problem statement/pre-concept phase (what problem am I trying to solve?), followed by the conceptual phase (what technologies/methods can solve my problem, which ones should I choose to develop, what are my requirements?), then the development phase (draw up specifications and budget to meet requirements, testing), and finally production phase (release, and support). That said, I'd look into materials and workmanship if I were buying a pre-made rifle. Material requirements might be 7075 receiver extension, AR-10 pattern receiver extension, 16" barrel length, ect., and workmanship requirements might be something like track record of properly torquing and staking various pieces, verifying headspace, known for keeping tight tolerances ect.
  2. MWS has a QCB system too, as does the accurate HK21 machine gun. I don't think you need to worry. MWS choking on mil-surp ammo? Considering the fact that the UK and NZ MoD chose the MWS over the SCAR-17, HK417, and Knight's rifles I'm pretty sure that's not the case. Part of the requirement for those trials was that it had to shoot surplus de-linked M80 and L2A2 ball and hit a man-sized target at 800m.
  3. That's what a PredatOBR is. PredatAR with OBR barrel. Knight's helped LMT develop the MWS. If you want great customer support and reliability but don't want to spend the $ for Knight's get an MWS, then have the barrel reprofiled, fluted, or dimpled. All the weight of the MWS is the huge frigging barrel.
  4. I've worn custom IEM's as ear plugs for the past seven years. I use'em daily in my lab. They do a good job of blocking out noise (20-25dBA) and are comfortable. I've worn mine in for more than 13hrs straight before. If you don't want to spring for the Sleek Audio ones there are a host of other cheaper ones out there. For shooting I use Sordins or Howard Leights.
  5. The 16" PredatOBR weighs right in at about 9lb unloaded. The PredatAR is a solid rifle if you really want even lighter weight.
  6. Springco also makes a spring for AR-10 pattern receiver extensions (you have to read into the long description). Personally I don't think they've been tested enough on .308 AR platforms to be the auto-recommendation. Can't go wrong with Slash's standard Armalite spring recommendation.
  7. I own the MWS and PWS MK216. The MWS is quite a pig, but it's probably the most battle-tested .308AR out there (since line guys get it instead of just special snipers and SOF like with KAC guns). Swinging the gun from target to target the MK216 is much easier than the MWS. Its piston setup doesn't throw off the balance (but it does benefit from a slightly heavier stock such as an ACS-L). I'll let you know how the MWS handles when I get my re-worked barrel back from Nefarious Arms. For your requirements it sounds like you want a PredatOBR.
  8. Sounds like a magazine issue. Does this happen with all of your mags? I'd check the feed lips for wear/bending.
  9. Uh, unless "myrtlebeach" changed his username the "GoDenBroncosGo" I'm pretty sure those are different posters ;) I may only see in 16:10, but I'm pretty sure I read those names correctly =P
  10. GoDenBronocosGo, are you having double feeds? Your post only mentions "misfeed" which might not be a double feed. If you are having a double feed, are you getting two new rounds or having a FTE and trying to feed a new round into it?
  11. The gun would have to have mechanical issues or be extremely poorly tuned if it's THAT sensitive... I don't see how an adjustable STR stock would cause that issue.
  12. Changing the stock on the receiver extension (buffer tube) will have zero effect.
  13. Damn! Glad you're ok!
  14. Good luck to the guy who tries to use the DBAL IR laser with the non-NV compatible H-1 lol.
  15. Not really, a crap ton more CAR buffers are made than LR308 buffers. Also a CAR buffer only weighs 3oz while an LR308 buffer weighs 3.8oz (from Midway). If you buy an AR-15 H buffer that weighs the same, the price isn't far off.
  16. Like what? It certainly doesn't use the most important milspec parts (BCG and barrel).
  17. Yup, it's a cool piece of kit. I'm waiting for a 500+ lumen version.
  18. The KMR is only available for AR-15's currently. A 16" ELW-F KMR upper is on my "to buy" list this year :).
  19. Works on all .308 ARs. I've used it with my PWS MK216, LMT MWS, and Bubbasks' DPMS.
  20. I use a Knight's Barrel Extension Wrench. Much cheaper than the Reaction Rod.
  21. Sexy, but quite heavy I hear...
  22. Not yet. I'm waiting for this camera to come out. 120fps capture or 240fps interpolated! I'm also wondering if the other folks here that said they wanted to send devices in for comparison will do it.
  23. FaRKle!

    BCG Check

Unknown quality/QC process. It's also NOT compatible with POF pattern rifles although it says so in the product description since POF doesn't make DI weapons.
  24. Seconded, although some muzzle devices do come with some sort of thread-locker (my MAMS came with Rocksett), I haven't seen a need for it if you torque the device down accordingly.
  25. Red (271) or blue (242) loctite will be just fine on low-pro gas block screws. Both of their spec sheets state to heat to 250C for removal if you can't do it by hand at first. It doesn't take that much to hold a gas block screw from backing out, and from my own experience if you degrease the screw and block and put a good coat of blue 242 on the screw, you'll still need a torch to heat it up enough to remove it. BCM uses Red 271 on their gas blocks and I've never heard of any issues with them coming loose.
