XD I set myself up on that one

Any word yet? No rush, I was just wondering.... BTW, I love threads with titles like this. It's like asking, "Okay guys, who likes blowjobs?"
-
Checking that box fixed it on this end, thanks Rob! I love when it's something as simple as that :) You're hard pressed to find a source as credible and experienced as Uncle Pat, and that's a great resource no matter what your level of expertise on the subject is. That's part of what makes this place great

Parts Compatibility for the DPMS 308
ChaseFan9 replied to archangel2003's topic in General Discussion
I bet you haven't even scratched the surface yet, Mike. Let me know if you can ever get 'em posted up, I always look forward to stumbling across one of your random files. -
I don't know if anyone else is having the same problem, but I went to check one of mrraley's tech notes, and it keeps saying; Sorry, there is a problem The page you are trying to access is not available for your account.Error code: 2C171/1 Is this a problem, or are they just not available anymore for some reason?

New to AR's. Questions on AR10 DMPS rifle

I was going to suggest one of Mr. Raley's tech notes for reference at least, but for some reason it keeps saying I don't have access to them..... -

How do you increase resolution on those pictures? They keep showing up super tiny for me. That 3rd one looks kinda like one of Toolndie's prints.... -
For real, three years apart and they still line up like a matched set! I like those fun mode engravings on the lower, btw

If you just need the disconnector, will this work? It's only TWENTY DOLLARS. http://www.midwayusa.com/product/170351/browning-disconnector-browning-bar-rifle

That's very tempting at that price, but it just makes me wonder. Aren't there still Maadi-Griffin plans floating around out there? I've heard of MOA capable home-built .50's built off those plans for $500 or less, but have yet to meet someone who actually did it.

Well, there's always next time, right? Glad to hear you've got her going, brother :D
-
Have you tried it out yet? If not, I'd get some headspace gauges at the least just to make sure it's g2g. I had a buddy of mine come over a while ago with what I believe was a 7mm Mauser. I never got a chance to check, because he just swore that it was chambered in .30-30 no matter how much I tried to tell him. So he went ahead and tried it anyways. He ended up with shrapnel in his forehead, 3 pieces of what used to be a really nice Mauser, and a new outlook on life. Oh, and he never came over to shoot again.

Welcome from Ga, I hope you can find a solution to your problem. That flipped casing blew my mind the first time I saw it

I'm with you Shepp, I've never been out in the woods and thought damn my rifle's too loud, and we've got pine lanes a mile long down here

I never understood that, seems like more people would want the advantage of a good brake on a hunting rifle, and I don't get how it could be illegal to hunt with one in an age where over 40 states (right?) legalized hunting with suppressors. So I ask why is a muzzle brake on a factory hunting rifle a bad idea?
-
A heavier buffer and correctly adjusted gas block may reduce recoil, but nowhere near as much as a good muzzle brake will. I've got a large profile brake from JP (not that ugly ass recoil eliminator), and recoil is almost nonexistent.

Aw hell.... Don't be so quick to "go that way" AA. Granted, Wash MAY have come on a little strong (I figured military guys would be used to it), but you have to remember that you're talking about welding together the receivers of a rifle that you started out saying you are unfamiliar with, a practice that doesn't make a lot of sense to folks, on a platform that is notorious for compatibility issues for both new AND experienced builders, and it definitely wasn't the most easily understandable post ever, anyways. And this group is great, almost everyone here would gladly help out as long as you're civil and clear. So please, hold off on the name calling at least until you get settled in -
Hey DNP, you said your dad's using this one on duty? I don't think he's a member here, but, J.D. McGuire over at AI&P Tactical specializes in Remington shotguns, and I'm pretty sure he does a lot of LE work. He's never done me wrong, anyways, and he reminds me of a lot of folks around here

Damn enablers..... Just let me make sure my wallet can handle the impact :)

There are several companies putting out high quality triggers for good prices, some who are even members here, but once you drink the Geissele koolaid, well.... I have an SSA-E in my Matrix build (the curved trigger SD-E), and I've loved it since day 1. I almost went with the SD-E, too, but for me it came down to familiarity. Not that the SD-E isn't a great trigger, but I don't want to have to think about finger position, seeing how, at this point, position on a curved trigger is basically reflex. But that's just me, you could be more comfortable with a flat trigger. Never REALLY know til she's in your hands. Btw, out here in SEGa, y'all is singular, among other things :)

If you do go the 16" Rifle length route, Criterion's got a great one they developed "just for us" here: http://criterionbarrels.com/ar-10-hybrid It's the first selection under stainless steel barrels. When you order, ask for Josh, btw. Not trying to push you one way or the other, but you'll probably save at least $200 going with Criterion over Lilja, and seems like around $400 compared to one of those sexy, cf-wrapped CA barrels. Granted, you won't be disappointed with any of these choices, but you'll save $ u could use for glass with Criterion.
-
Pretty sure minimum length is 16" barrel (obviously) and 26" OAL For rifles, anyways....
-
Or throw down an extra $800 and get a REAL short 870: http://serbu.com/supershorty.html

What about receivers? Any word for us guys wanting to build a .338LM or, say, .30-06?

Luth AR makes some great stocks at pretty decent prices, here: http://www.luth-ar.com I'm running an upgraded MBA2 on my Matrix build, and I actually prefer it over Magpul's PRS, partly because the PRS is way heavier (plus the MBA 1 is like half the price). I don't think you'll have to worry about charging handle clearance, as yours is on the side of the bolt, not the top like a "normal" AR, but don't forget, "measure twice, cry once"
