  1. Two entirely different roles bud.
  2. According to respectable resources the 6.8 is being used more than you think. Stop by the 68 forums sometime and find out for yourself.
  3. Just shot some 123 gr Hornady Z Max today with 26.6 gr of H 4198 in Winchester brass. .850" 5 shot group at 100 yards using my 16" ARP x39. 3 shots went in the same hole. I like it.
  4. Ran the new CPD 28 rounder yesterday. Pulled the trigger as fast as I could and it fed flawlessly. The rounds don't nosedive with this mag. The new design keeps the bullets pointed nose up.
  5. My 7.5" x39 runs 123 gr @ 1900 fps. I averaged around 60 fps loss per 1 inch of barrel length.
  6. So, back on track, have you ran the new CPD J mags yet? Mine should be here in couple more days. As soon as they show up I'm going to load them up and test them out.
  7. Well, as always I shouldn't believe everything I read on the internet. Some folks on another forum were complaining about the newest generation of .308 P Mags not working very well. One fella apparently spoke to a Magpul engineer at a local range about the issue and the tech mentioned they were releasing an updated follower and spring to fix the so called reliability issue with the newest generation of .308 mags. Maybe it was all a crock of sh!t. Didn't mean to ruffle any feathers hoss.
  8. I don't own any and don't plan to. To many bad reviews with Magpul .308 mags. They work well for the 5.56mm and that's as far as I go with them.
  9. I've got 6 of the 20 round C Products Defense SR-25/.308 mags and they are awesome. Quality is second to none and function is spot on. I have tweaked the feed lips up a little on all of mine to help aid in the bullet aiming more upward towards the chamber. It is probably not necessary for proper function but mine feeds flawlessly. These work great in my PA 10, cannot speak for other AR 10's. I bought 1 to start with. When i decided it was GTG I purchased more.
  10. Just ordered 4 of them. Wish he would hurry up with the new 20 rounders also. Took my 16" ARP x39 out to 400 yards today, dialed in the dope on my 3-9x Trijicon Accupoint, banging steel all day long.
  11. LMT is making x39 bolts again. I'm going to order some in the near future. From past research they seem to be indestructable. Luckily I was able to get 2 ARP x39 bolts before he stopped making them. They are pretty strong as well.
  12. Chad at CPD has been giving us the ole "they'll be shipping next week" for like 6 months now with these mags. I can't wait to get some of these new 28 rounders. Finally.
  13. Depends on the gas port size. Both of my x39 builds (16" ARP and 7.5" Tactical Ammunition barrels) run red Sprinco springs and H2 buffers
  14. I've made a homemade jig like this one here for actually drilling non dimpled barrels. Works like a champ. http://i369.photobucket.com/albums/oo134/rlr350/Slide3.jpg http://i369.photobucket.com/albums/oo134/rlr350/Slide4.jpg http://i369.photobucket.com/albums/oo134/rlr350/Slide5.jpg
  15. Chrono'd these guys today. 43.7 gr of RE 15 in LC brass, 2520 fps out of my 18" PA 10. They're a little warm. Heading out to a 1000 yard range next Saturday. Should be great.
  16. Stepped up to 40.8 gr of 8208 XBR. .657" group at 100 yds, chrono'd 2513fps out of an 18" barrel. I know I can get it faster with commercial brass, but the LC brass is cheap and the load is accurate. Just starting to get into the pressure. I'm happy as hell with that. According to my Applied Ballistics app, the round carries 1000 ft-lbs out to 475 yds. Works for me.
  17. Tested some 165 Game Kings yesterday looking for an OCW with IMR 8208 xbr. Started at 39 gr and went up to 40.2 without pressure signs. 39.6 gr in LC brass gave me .845" @ 100 yards. Will chrono soon. Should be a great hunting round.
  18. Chrono'd my Nosler 168 gr loads with TAC yesterday. 39.3 gr is giving me an average of 2330fps from an 18" barrel with LC brass. Accurate load but kinda slow. Loaded out for range ammo anyways. Doesn't even budge the brass when resizing. Cases should last a while.
  19. You lucky dog. I settled on 39.3 gr of TAC under the 168 gr Nosler CC . Shooting 1" 5 shot groups at 100 yds out of my 18" PA 10 with 3 out of 5 touching each other. I'm happy.
  20. Accurate says 39.7 gr of Tac is the minimum to 44.1 max on thier load data chart. So 39 gr is below the minimum charge weight? Seems kind of low.
  21. Glad you posted this. I was looking for this bullet/powder combo earlier this evening. Picked up 600 Nosler 168 gr CC's and 5 lbs of TAC the other day.
  22. I had really good success with RE 7 and H 4198 in x 39. 27.3 gr of RE 7 with 123 gr Hornady SST in Lapua brass is outstanding. And 26.5 gr of H 4198 with 123 gr Speer Hot Cor in Federal brass rips one ragged hole at 50 yds. 16" AR Performance barrel. Have some AA 1680 and AA 5744 to try out soon too.
  23. The new Sierra you are describing is the Tipped Match King. Very impressive BCs on all of them. Here in the next couple weeks im gonna pick up some 175 gr Sierra TMK. Very excited about them. Will report back when I test them.
  24. C Products Defense SR 25 .308 mags work great in my P Tac lower. Just ordered 5 more 20 rounders last night. The new finish on the mags is Black T coating. Very durable and the quality is top notch. I can load out to 2.850" without issues.
  25. Just built my first AR 10 recently and started reloading for it as well. I have been building custom AR's and reloading since 2008. I have been an active member on the 68 forums since 2008 as well. I have done many custom builds including 5.56x45, 6.8x43, 7.62x39 and my latest 18" .308 PA 10. Looking to learn as well as provide information about things I have experience with.
