what's the chupacabra look like? anyone have a pic of it?

with how healthcare prices are because of Obama (yes I know, trying to start a riot on purpose. lol.), you are better off super gluing that and wrapping it with ductape. ;)

is there any other kind of rail worth having other than free floating? :P

lol. navy blue would match, but black will work. idk what agency wears lavender... sounds girly enough for California though. lol. -

so what you are saying is the army made it so I was under protected? hmmm. surprising. lol. awesome, glad there are more colors, would need it to somewhat match my uniform. -
Still problems with quoting, idk if it my computer or what. anyways, Beantown, let me know what you find out with your research on Salt Works, I have been looking at them also. unforgiven, thanks for the advice, I will do that.

What service? They give me guns to play with... I thought they just thought it was my birthday everyday.

Ok, so my computer has been having issues quoting lately on the forum... so I give up on that. lol. Thanks for the link survivalshop. As far as my build, I actually don't worry about weight to much, I carried an m249 in Afghanistan for 8 months with 1200 rounds. That gun is 16.41 pounds with no optic, laser, grip, tac light, or rounds. I fully expect my gun to be heavier than an m4 or hunting rifle, but I just want the weight in the right areas. Heavier in the buttstock end means I can have a longer bull barrel and still have a good balance as far over the magwell as possible. And balance is more important to me than weight. But what is most important is the weight of my wallet, which is pretty light and will probably mean a heavier gun.

I wish when things are out of stock some companies, like Aero, would just say it is out of stock instead of removing it from the website and saying it basically doesn't exist. then I can just keep an eye on it. Heck, I would put a down payment on some things and just be fine being on a waiting list for some stuff. Is crazy how so many things you can't find though. Can't say I blame people for buying a ton before the election, we get Hilary in office and I fear for our gun rights.

think I will just relax in the bathtub with a toaster, then I can at least have a last meal. lol
-
lol. you know, I would/will, if it ends up costly less to build than a similar Aero Precision gun... but don't exactly have the motivation to price the rest of it out right now. haha. day off and having to deal with a newborn and a toddler, plus my mother. lol. just takes everything out of you.
-
I see. I'll have to take a look. also looking at this: https://www.saltworksrifles.com/SWR-M5-Builder-Kit-p/50101.htm wonder how that would compare against the Aero M5E1
-
better to buy from MI instead of from AP itself?
-
Yeah I noticed when I went to buy a receiver set that tons of stuff is either out of stock or just nonexistent even though I know the company sells it. That's why I am just taking my time and looking around more... that and I have a newborn so wife is reluctant to let me spend so much even though I know she will give in when the time comes. lol. Do you have the link to that thread?

I actually meant smaller. lol. I'm kinda a little guy. In the army I wore smalls that were approximately 8x10. And yes I meant thickness. lol. What about colors for the plate carrier? or is there just one color? -
thanks shepp, I haven't really found anything else that competes as far as cost is concerned for the style I am looking, unless you guys have anything else in mind.
-
So after looking around a little bit more, I'm thinking about using an Aero Precision M5E1 upper with the M5 lower for this build. Cost wise I think it will keep it down while giving me the tactical look I love and not sacrificing on quality and fit. Then I will just find a good .260 rem barrel and put a JEC Customs Quick-brake on it. The build should cost less than $1600. Any thoughts?

Preach on brother! I actually just stopped a guy that worked for vortex scopes high up on the food chain... lets just say he didn't get a ticket. :P

Also 7mm-08 is a nice flat shooting round that can be loaded with bullets of high BC and seems to be growing in popularity, might be pushing the mag length a bit though for some loads, but still a good option.

Thank you. Trauma pads aren't a problem for me as I wear a level IIIA vest so the plates would be thrown over my uniform if there was an active shooter or other possibly dangerous situation. And water really is only a problem for me because I live and work in a swampy area and would hate for extended exposure to water to possibly affect the structural integrity... plus I am lazy and don't want to have to dry them out or clean them off. lol. Do you guys offer different options for plate carriers? And do the plates come in different sizes? Also I was wondering, what is the width of the different levels of your plates? -

If you plan on going with 6.5 creedmoor over the .308, my suggestion is go for 260 rem. 6.5 creed has a slightly different case dimensions compared to .308 or .243 brass which adds a little bit more work. 260 rem has similar performance to 6.5 creed but can easily use .308 brass necked down or .243 brass necked up because of the similar dimensions. just a little less work with 260 for the reloader.

What is the warranty on the plates? and how do they do standing up to moisture, since you will be sweating constantly and there is always the chance of having to take a plunge into a river on missions?
