now you want to reduce recoil as much as possible, there are a few considerations to think about. weight affects recoil, lighter the weapon, the more recoil. but then again you don't want a weapon that is to heavy. where the weight is located; if the weight is farther forward there will be less muzzle rise, making it easier for follow-up shots. but then there is the fatigue of having a front heavy weapon if not shooting supported. so a good balance for you based on these considerations is important, and the length of the barrel will affect all of this. muzzle brake: makes it a bit louder to the shooter, but your best bet at eliminating recoil. low mass bolt carrier group: the lighter the weight moving around in the weapon, the less recoil you will have as the weapon functions. doesn't affect it as much as other things, but it does help. caliber choice: what caliber do you plan on going with? some recoil more than others as I am sure you know from shooting 338. this depends on the size of game you are shooting as they grow bigger in some places than others. if you want to help reduce recoil in this department, shoot what you need, don't go overboard on a big round. if you aren't sure, well pretty much everyone here will agree that .308 is a do it all round for the most part. as for a hydraulic dampener, idk about that one. I have never tried one, so someone else will have to comment on that. I know, a lot of what I have said leaves you with more questions. but basically we need more information. like JJ asked, are you shooting from a blind or driving them? what caliber do you plan on using? how long of shots will you be taking? I have seen hog hunting videos where a guy empties a whole mag on a heard of hogs; so how many shots do you plan on taking at once (this will effect the barrel you will want)?

like Deadpool forgetting his gun bag, count it down. :P

wash, that is disturbing. I guess that is the best home defense, shoot your poo at people, they wont ever want to come near.

lol. never had sex with a german or watched german porn... now I am a little curious though. lol.

looks like it could of been a gun from Starship Troopers! where's the naked babes at? I got to admit, it does look kinda cool, but so not practical if you have to carry it and shoot it from anything other than the prone or bench. haha.

good information brother

everything in german sounds funnier. haha

trijicon is good, but I think they are overpriced anyways.

unforgiven, I got to say, I can't wait to build my Aero M5. pulling some overtime to go to my gun funds. haha. -
shepp, definitely gonna have to come down and see you. way better than going to see the family. haha. yeah gg&g looks nice... but I could buy 3 harris for the price of one. haha. besides, my harris I got while I was in the army still. can't beat free! the springs have never bothered me. only problem I have had with harris is when deer hunting, be careful about putting the legs down because they fly down so fast they can create a lot of noise if you don't hold them back a bit.

when I saw it, I figured someone better jump at it quickly so no errors bigger than a typo was made. haha.

yup, because EVERYTHING blows up when you shoot it. haha. and all explosions create huge fireballs.

yeah, in many ways vtac slings and beachin tactical slings are similar. many companies have them, including a magpul one that I used for a short time but liked the vtac better. Can't say I have used a beachin tactical so it might be best, idk, vtac always worked well for me even climbing mountains, ladders, and moving fast with the weapon on front or back. Beachin Tactical recently posted a video in a thread that showed the benefits of a good 2 point sling. really just find a nice comfortable 2 point sling that is easy to use and setup. 3 points I hate, way to confusing and don't work well half the time. single point slings while cool and quick, they leave your weapon dangling if you have to climb anything or even just drawing your secondary, plus you cant put the weapon on your back then.

oh man, never thought about that jtallen. good thing you realized that. now I am gonna be paranoid about my tools. lol. yup, kinda the same thought as measure twice, cut once. better to take a little longer and get it right than take to much off.
-
well if it is good enough for krieger and bartlein, it would be good enough for me since they make some of the best barrels in the world that many professionals use. if it still needs drilling after that, he can always go up to the .093 of lilja barrels. you probably know better, I just like to play it safe. let's see what wash says. lol.
-
I like Vikings tactical sings and harris bipods. both I used in the military and absolutely loved, so haven't used much else because I got buried by my bias. lol.
-
hoping you saying ".096" was a typo and you meant .086. lol.
-
don't drill it to big right away, better to work your way up. remember, you can always drill more, but you can't undrill.
-
at least it is just little stuff left

yeah, they built some neat things though on the show. lol. I never was a huge fan of what they were selling though, especially saiga shotguns

-
Robocop, now you have me curious to how crazy Damien's was. haha. jtallen, you know you might be right about sons of guns making an episode like that or something. didn't the guy get arrested for molesting his daughter or something?
-
man if Krieger and bartlein use .086", that's like the word of God right there when it comes to barrels. :P

lol. M1917 was water cooled machine gun used in world war I. I could see some benefits to having a crew served water cooled gun. less barrel changes for heavy machine guns. I don't think it is needed for the wars we are fighting now. maybe if world war III started and we had to fight thousands at a time, or use it for anti air. http://www.beltfedar.com/belt_feed_conversions/ that on an ar-15 with a water cooler wrapping the tubing around the barrel. we can waste rounds all day long and not even bother to attach a good piece of glass, or any glass for that matter! plus we could definitely say screw the BUIS. lol. I think the gun would only weigh 80 pounds with the water cooler and everything. and we could use explosive tipped bullets dripped in poison!
