  1. I tend to just bow out, and say since your the expert, and you seem to know everything there is to know about the ar platform, and that your collection would embrass me , I applaud you for being a genius, may the AR gods shine bright light on you and your words.
  2. I do not personally own a lr308 308win sbr, my reason, I have no use for one, it does not make effective use of the powder and you lose to much velocity, and tend to blind yourself with the muzzle flash. But since you seem to be implying I have no experience with gas guns here is my collection of ar platform rifles, I built each and every one.
  3. I was referencing the same rip case rim issue, thats the same regardless of barrel length or gas system length. If your gas port is to large on a rifle length system, it has the same result as a pistol length gas system thats overgassed, case destruction, large part of the bolt carrier hitting the receiver near the buffer tube threads, etc. I have built and used both, and witnessed first hand. Until you have witnessed this on a rifle length system you have no idea what I speak of.
  4. I ran into a similiar issue on a 20" barrel in 243 recently. They gas hole was drilled at .0980" and when firing the rim of the case was being ripped off, as others have stated the brass in the chamber had expanded from firing and had not retracted yet when the bolt was attempting to extract it. I opted for a SLR rifleworkw sentry S9 adjustable gas block. The detents allow it to be set with positive setting. Its low profile fit under the midwest ss gen 2 308 rail. Currently have it set on on setting 5, reduced recoil impulse, and no more double feeds, stove pipes,, or ripped rims. I recommend them.
  5. 243 barrel going back to BHW, have an issue with the feed ramps, going to send it back for inspection and repair. They said if they could not fix it, they would make me a new one. Great customer service so far. Going out UPS tomorrow.
  6. Love mine, thanks for the warm welcome. Here is me and the wifes 2 children.
  7. I agree, have a 9.5 year old chocolate female, and 1.5 year old black male. They are awesome pets, and great companions.
  8. Awesome, is that a lab in your avatar? I own 2 great dogs.
  9. Preacher your list looks pretty impressive, I have a few suggestions that I normally use that you may find are alternative options. I have experience with these. SLR rifleworks sentry adustable gas block. I installed one of these and really tamed the rifle down, so mucn that I can keep my scoped lr243's crosshairs on target at 100 yards on 24 power. it allows you to tune the rifle to the rounds your using, it has detent locks to securely lock the adjustment in. Well worth the extra price. They run from $100 to almost $200 for the titanium version. I started using the midwest ss series free float rails on my dpms pattern 308's they weight between 12 and 15 ounces, and really cut the weight off a heavy rifle. the 12 and 15" are also customizable. Roughly $200.00 The kak bolt carrier is awesome, however it will leave ejector marks on the base of the cartridge. but no issue with reloading the rounds. Had no issues with mine. The supercomp xl is a compensator that I use alot on 308 builds, it really reduces recoil by atleast 40%, has titanium and stainless versions, and allows quick times back on target. No disruption in point of impact either. Its worthy. Around $100.00 Check out Black Hole Weapomry Barrels, they have some ready to ship in stock, and also you can purxhase a custom as I have, I own one in 20" 308 winchester shot peened hbar, 1n9.73 twist polygonal rifling, thread 5/8×24, and I have a .936 stainless fluted 20" threaded 5/8×24 with polygonal rifling in 243 winchester. it uses the dpms barrel extension. The hiperfire 24e single stage trigger is a game changer adjustable from 2.5lbs to 4.5lbs. Its a very nice precision trigger around $200.00 Look at the fulton armory titan receiver sets, I have built from them, and dpms sets. They are dpms low receiver height, .150 to .160 and work with most rails and dpms platform parts on the market. Here is a rifle that I used alot of the above parts on. I have others to show if you need other idea's. This one is a 16" hbar dpms lr308, 12.5" rail, supercomp xl, magpul acs stock, bcm med gunfighter CH., Kak bolt carrier group, etc etc. This was before I added the 512 eotech.
  10. Walk softly and carry a BIG stick...lol
  11. Yeah, I have some expensive hobbies. Just ask my wife. I have 2 lr308 customs I built, a 16' carbine, and a 24" .936 heavy. I also own a 20" fulton armory titan I built in 243 winchester with a .936 black hole weaponry barrel. I have built several 308's, and a few 6.5 creddmoors. In addition to 5.56, .223, 25-45, 9mm, 6.5 grendel, and 6.8spc ar15 platforms I built and own. its good to share the same interests with you guys. Looking forward to hanging out here.
  12. Thanks, good to be here.
  13. Just wanted to say hello to the forum. I am a member at a few other forums, but since I am a big fan of the LR308 platform and 308 in general, I figured this was a place to hang out with people who have the same passion. I build alot of lr308 platform rifles, and shoot alot of them as well, and eager to earn my keep here.
