Mrmackc, thank you and thank you. I just checked the tracking numbers, hopefully more parts will start trickling in on Friday
-
That's a great looking pup. I hear boxer puppies are a handful
-
I assume you're referring to the acog, that's a tough pill to swallow but in time I'm sure I can talk myself into it
-
Thanks man, I'm effin pumped.
-
I'll try to keep my pants on about this till then. I'm just getting anxious and want to start shooting. I'll make my final purchases in the next two weeks I think. What kinda pup did you get?
-
Well fellas, is the trigger a good buy? It's on their site for $100 with the pins and I'm about to pull the trigger on it.....sorry. But I might get it though. Survivalshop, would you recommend it to a friend or family member?
-
Right, it sits on my counter while I wait for the rest of the parts to show up

Here's a couple pictures of the receiver set for those that haven't seen next level receivers yet. Tungsten cerakote

That's an interesting read, I'll be interested in your results.

Okay guys, I have most of the parts ordered and on the way. Matt.cross, thank you for updating my original post. I greatly appreciate all of your input on the handguard issue. Your opinions and experience make me feel like that will be a sound decision. With regards to the barrel, I'm almost certain that I'll go with the 16" as my intended use is varmint/hunting 500yds-ish as well as out to 750 on paper. I'm not certain on optics outside of the eotech. Best case scenario, I'd like a turret scope that tracks well and returns to zero. I'm entertaining the thought of a fixed power scope as well. Maybe in time, a 6x acog with a red dot combo. Any thoughts? Also, trigger selection? I'm leaning on single stage, would like 3-4lb pull. The trigger is a higher priority right now, I'll buy that in the next week or so. Thanks fellas

Bingo, a little muscle memory will have you forgetting that you even strip the magazine. Make sure to get some trigger time before you decide you're unhappy. You will be pleased.
-
Magwa, it is my understanding that they were designed to require stripping the magazine. All five of my magazines are the same way. The word on the grapevine has it that it was designed for consideration as a gubment issue pistol, (hence ambidextrous safety/decocker) magazines that drop freely in a firefight are more likely to be left on the ground for obvious reasons. I personally haven't done a ton of digging on it because I generally shoot the G21 if I want speed in the uspsa shoots. I'll be interested if you come up with a solution though.
-
Anyone with any experience here have tips to making the mags drop freely from the fnx without having to strip them per chance? Magwa, I'd be interested to know if yours is the same way too.
-
Great looking pistol. Identical to mine, except I don't have an optic. You'll be very pleased with your choice
-
Fair point, well received......
-
I don't know much about it either. I can't get past how awesome it sounds.

I've seen a couple gentleman at the uspsa shoots shooting a 10mm, one guy converted it between courses of fire for a little extra pop on the far steel. It was impressive to say the least. Have you ever seen the .460 Rowland conversion for the 21? Its said to be nearly equal to semi automatic .44 magnum. That sounds like a good time too.

You make me want to say the pledge of allegiance before sitting down and having a liberty sized plate of freedom fries and bacon on my my Stars and Stripes theme table cloth covered picnic table made from the wood of the cherry tree that George Washington himself chopped down. Amen brother!
-
Hahahaha, I've been told that before. Maybe one of these days I'll put one to work at the local indoor range.
-
No kidding? I've never actually fired a 1911. It doesn't loook fun to shoot, miles of sex appeal though.
-
Did you have the option of swapping out the palm swell? I shoot both the fnx tactical in 45 as well as G21. My problem with the fnx was the grip as well, but with the larger swells it can give you a more aggressive wrist angle sending more energy to your arms and shoulders. This makes it feel similar to the glock and much more comfortable to shoot.

Oh no no, I definitely have done enough research to know that part of the order. This is, however, my first build so I'm absolutely likely to make those types of ignorant and boneheaded statements/questions. The carbon fiber tube I was going to make into a handguard had to fit over the gas block and slide onto the barrel nut requiring the barrel nut to have an outside diameter large enough. I was maybe no clear enough about that. "Barrel Harmonics Testing" is, as I'm certain you're familiar, how an NCO makes hip-pocket training sound significant enough to justify signing for the K-D range as often as we did. Anything that could be made to sound wonderfully beneficial to the sniper platoon and marksmen was hard to deny. ?

I bounced around for the first six years in the guard. I mobilized in June 2004 with a heavy unit of action and our company was linked with a battalion out of Hawaii (unsure of the battalion) for operation Baton Rouge in samara. After that, before the first election, we were moved to Hawijah with 3-27 I believe (wolfhounds). after the election we were tasked to the group rotating through warrior air base as their QRF, air infill fire support, and raid support. That fall, we were extended to stay with a 101st battalion to help provide a little extra support through the handoff. I came stateside for about six months before being reassigned to a PRT in ft. Bragg. We had an extended train up which is where the Naval Commander (lt. colonel I believe) got authorization to have me attend the previously mentioned shooting schools because I was the team's DM. Not long after that assignment, I was released from my contract early to enlist active duty because my entire enlistment had been active to that point. I then was assigned to 1st ID in Germany but that was changed due to custody issues and I was assigned to 1-509th ABN in ft. Polk until discharge. How's that for a ten year nutshell?

This makes sense, I guess that's always been the standard I have heard too.
