DSG Arms 22" 6.5CM, Ballistic Advantage in disguse ?
bfoosh006 replied to bfoosh006's topic in Ballistic Advantage Barrels
98Z5V, does yours have a roll mark by the barrel extension ?... Aero Precision roll mark maybe ? I gotta wonder if DSG Arms and BA / AP are like PSA and FN... barrel wise. -

DSG Arms 22" 6.5CM, Ballistic Advantage in disguse ?
bfoosh006 replied to bfoosh006's topic in Ballistic Advantage Barrels
Yeah I don't care if it is beat up, it will never be a safe queen. Lol, even after the first scuff, I never bothered to tape over the finish... so even more broke in ! I do wonder how bead blasting can so readily...so more a FWIW to those that it matters to. -
DSG Arms 22" 6.5CM, Ballistic Advantage in disguse ?

Here it is compared to a 18" PSA SS .308 I should add... the bead blasted surface on the barrel, scuffs super easy, so tape / protect your barrel prior to dragging your barrel nut or FF tube over it. -
I just installed a DSG Arms ( aka Ballistic Advantage ? ) 22" .936GB on a PSA upper, and lapped it in and Loctite 609 it in... I hope it shoots well ! Going to go tomorrow... the barrel was $200 delivered, 4th July sale.

Heck of a deal for his trigger. Be sure to buy a Tubbs .308 Flatwire recoil spring from LaRue as well... Cheapest around.

I strongly suggest a Criterion Barrel... one of the Hybrid Nitrated SS ones. Ultimately, it will pay for itself, and bring you far more happiness... given the cost of ammo, every shot can be about a buck with match ammo... and a miss or poor group can quickly add up dollar wise. In this day and age, barrel cost is tiny compared to the life of that barrel... you will spend far more on ammo. ( especially if you shoot a lot ) Lap / true your upper receiver face while you are at it... I also strongly believe that to be worth every penny.

All my PSA gas tubes are in the same position and appear to be the same length... OEM and aftermarket. I will post photos after "Modern Technology" sends me the friggin' e-mail.. Lol I am curious if the bolt carrier ( with no bolt installed ) will easily slide into its proper position ? Also, I would check your front sight / gas block... make sure it is not loose or canted, or if the gas tube is loose... and / or is the gas key loose ? I would avoid Monarch ammo. .. some of my adj. GB ones dislike even ZQI's inimal volume of gas ( odd powder burn rate or ? )... Because I am not positive... how many rounds have actually been fired ? Can you see if the BCG has any odd wear marks on it ? .. and post photos if there are. And check the bolt lugs for odd wear marks.

I know this isn't the "right" caliber... ( Lol ) but... DSG Arms just had "their" 22" Match grade barrel on sale for $200 bucks, shipped. It is a heavy, thick barrel needing a .936 GB. DSG Arms specs... https://dsgarms.com/dsg-4001-0015 Features: 6.5 Creedmoor 416R Stainless Steel Bead-blasted external finish Nickel Boron coated barrel extension 1:8 Twist Rate 5/8x24 Muzzle Threads HP & MPI Tested .936” Gas Block Seat Weight: 76.8oz Heavy profile 11 Degree recessed target crown Button Rifled Rifle-length gas system Ballistic Advantage Specs for the same "looking" barrel... https://ballisticadvantage.com/22-inch-65-rifle-ss-premium-barrel.html Additional Info Length 22" Material 416R Stainless Steel Profile Heavy Finish Bead Blasted Gas System Length Rifle Gas Block Journal .936" Twist Rate 1:8 inches Muzzle 5/8x24 Threaded Weight 75.9 oz Other Info MPI Tested For all intents and purposes.. and judging by its profile and specs, I am going to say it probably is a BA barrel.... If anyone can confirm this, I would appreciate it. I just finished installing it in a PSA upper, polished the feed ramps and deburred the feed ramps, lapped the receiver face, Loctite'd 609 it in place. I will allow it to dry ( the Loctite 609 as per instructions ) for 36hrs and try it out on Sunday hopefully. Some photos...

PA10 Nitrated 18", NB BCG, Gen 2 observations...
bfoosh006 replied to bfoosh006's topic in Palmetto State Armory
I have been so busy with all the other projects, chronographing is on the list.... but I want to do a few barrel makes and lengths, specific to the caliber... IE 6.5CM Criterion 22", PSA 20", and now a DSG Arms ( Ballistic Advantage ? ) 22".... and a .308 18" PSA , 18" Criterion, 20" PSA.... and in .308, there are nitrated, SS , and Nitrated SS barrels. I have decently large assortment of both calibers... waiting .. for time to test. Testing that many rds, from so many barrels is a whole weekend event... logging data after every factory rd and having to stop every 20 minutes ( range rules at the 100yd line, so as to allow new shooters time to setup targets.. ) can be a chore. I might just break it down into sub sections. -

LaRue is now selling their MBT for $87 bucks... VERY hard to beat for that price ! Hopefully they didn't change the manufacture ! -

Well that sucks. I hadn't heard that. My 20yo+ RRA was pretty good for the money. -

Lol... first world problems in a Commie state. I do admit.. you don't want to be caught with a 11rd mag in Commiefornia, or else where.. -

BTW... Right To Bear.com has the RRA Varmint 2 stage ( 3.5lbs ) and RRA Match 2 stage (4.5lbs ) on sale for $80 bucks.... not as completely smooth as a Geissele's but very practical ... and serviceable. Also the Strike Industries Extended Charging Handle latch... basically making the charging handle like a BCM Mod 4 Med. https://www.righttobear.com/Rock-River-2-stage-trigger-p/ar0093nmk.htm https://www.righttobear.com/Rock-River-Arms-Two-Stage-Varmint-Match-Trigger-3-p/ar0093nmkv.htm https://www.righttobear.com/strike-industries-charging-handle-extended-latch-p/si-ar-latch-bk.htm -

Which one ? The PSA 20" HBAR from here... https://palmettostatearmory.com/psa-20-rifle-length-308-win-1-10-stainless-steel-barrel-516446237.html The 18" Nitrated SS Hybrid Criterion from MSR Arms... via here... at the bottom of the link..http://criterionbarrels.com/barrels/.308_AR/ar-10-hybrid I kind of wish I had bought a 20" or 22" Nitrated SS Hybrid... just for the added velocity, but the 18" is a very nimble package. -

Lol until you shoot it for accuracy for 8hrs... then it is exhausting. It is a perfectly good Mil-Spec'ish trigger.. at a good price. However, the longer pull compared to a target trigger will get old at the bench. So just sayin' ? -
Thank you for the offer... but I would keep it for years... many barrels and stuff to look at ! I have to add....barrel cleaning has never been so productive. No copper fouling to speak of... and very easy clean up... now I can see where I just guessed at before. The Lyman was on sale and with a discount code.. it was $110 bucks.... IMHO, money well spent for those of you wondering if you "need" one.. Lol

.308 PSA PA10 GenII ... some of the better groups.. BTW.. I never adjust my POI to my POA... so I can continue to use the Point of aim. And because I am a dummy... I left the 175gr FGMM at home... that was frustrating, since I really wanted groups from the lighter trigger. And same thing.. I will TnG ( true / Lap and Glue Loctite ) the upper receiver face later.
-
Some of the better groups from the 6.5CM PSA PA10 GenII.... all in the pouring rain..... wheeee !! ( the targets were drenched, that is why some have tears ) BTW.. I never adjust my POI to my POA... so I can continue to use the Point of aim. All groups fired with no cool down, barrel cleaning, etc... 10rds, rapid fire, 100yds , benched , scoped, bagged front and rear. IMHO, pretty danged good for a barrel you can buy for $170 on the PSA website. I will give the barrel and thoroughly clean it, then true / lap the upper receiver face, and Loctite it in next round. Some of the fliers were me getting fidgety at the bench..I fired quite a few rounds yesterday...( A full .50 Cal ammo can of empties from both the .308 and the 6.5CM ) The AG ( Hornady American Gunner 140gr ) shows it. Very nice that it likes this inexpensive "Bulk" ammo. And the "new" Fed. AE120gr did pretty good...

Very nice... best 25 cents you've ever spent. I'm glad you like it. Heck of a deal.... well kind of... LOL, you will spend more on ammo...
