PA10 Nitrated 18", NB BCG, Gen 2 observations...

FYI, I will be adding the results from a PSA 20" Hvy profile barrel complete rifle , Rifle length gas system soon ... and including any improvements added by PSA. -
BTW, ...I've got another PSA 6.5CM upper on the way to test.... so results should be better then my previous small sample size. And, rumor has it, that a cutting tool could be altered to do the receiver truing and upper BCG channel cutting at the same time.... allowing for a very straight axis between the two.

PA10 GEN II, My Findings On Parts Info and Range Data (Log)

Dude.... I have so much to share. -
Excellent review, thank you... Welcome to the .308 AR world. BTW... As for your comment.... ( and I wish someone had pointed this out to me in my youth .. Lol ) " The first range day was the slow and methodical barrel break in. Everyone seems to have an opinion on this process. Mine is simple, wet patch dry patch after every round fired for the first 20 rounds, Then repeat the process after every 3 rounds fired for another 20 rounds. " Just remember, the goal to cleaning after "X" shots, is to have the fouling and copper removed so the next bullet polishes the bore steel smoother.... not the fouling and copper smoother "over" the bores steel.

GoodNByAir.... can you show a photo of the barrel nut under the FF tube ? .. and check to see if the barrel nut is steel ? ( magnet )... and it is good to see a tab on the front of the charging handle. Oops... and great thread ! -

And if you didn't want to wait for the kit to come back in stock.. or wanted to back order the LPK... You could order a complete lower... all the parts are there, function properly together etc... ( Heck of a deal BTW, even got the new 2 Stage PSA trigger ! ) http://palmettostatearmory.com/psa-gen2-pa65-6-5-creedmoor-complete-moe-str-2-stage-lower-receiver-black-5165447839.html Or even less expensive.... http://palmettostatearmory.com/psa-gen2-pa10-308-complete-classic-lower-receiver-516447192.html

Oops... and keep asking questions, we are all willing to help you get a "PSA affordable Working Mans .308 AR" shooting how you like. I would check on the kit you want everyday... and buy the kit you want. Mostly because of the lack of a Mil-Spec for .308 AR's... IE... not all .308 FF handguards fit all .308 AR's, the Pic. rail height between the upper and handguard might not be the same. ( It is a complicated issue... but don't let that stop you, PSA FF tubes are GTG, and are going to get even better. )

As already said... changing the GB is "easy" enough. And I think... if you check... it no longer voids the warranty. ( This is new, and just changed ) and frankly the "voids" warranty never mattered to me, everything I did was my decision. http://palmettostatearmory.com/psa_warranty While not everyone agrees ( ) I strongly suggest an Adjustable gas block... read the linked thread from GoodByNAir, I hope it helps you out. And just an FYI, PSA is constantly improving their product... so some of it might not apply anymore ! As for match quality accuracy, all the barrels I tried produced excellent results with factory ammo that specific barrel liked.... I don't have time to handload for all my projects, but am completely comfortable PSA barrels can hold their own compared to others... (see my 6.5CM PSA upper thread , sub MOA out of the box with numerous factory Match loads, and even more after tinkering )

IMHO, this video speaks volumes... watch it until the end, it is worth it. From selling mags and ammo in 2008... to a major firearm manufacturer today.... with more then just AR 15's , .308 AR's, PCC's , AK Platform's, 1911's I am so happy to see this kind of company still exists in the USA. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f3eQGOCHsi4&feature=youtu.be

BTW... PSA does watch these forums... and is constantly improving their product. The newest production GenII's have slightly improved magwells, a few 1/1000ths looser width fit... allowing mags to drop free better. ( No more burnishing needed......) I also understand they are taking the .308 AR industry standard gas port size issue under further refinement... IE , it is probably going to be smaller ( if it isn't already on current production )... we all know the .308 cartridge has ample gas for function, so to me a smaller gas port size is a darned good idea... with no reduction in "combat" reliablity... ( IE filthy, nasty, far less then ideal conditions ) So .... keep talking guys... PSA is listening... and they really do want you to have a firearm you can literally trust your life with. I

Yup, After PSA realized Odin works sent barrel nuts that wouldn't properly allow the gas tube to fit properly that caused a hiccup in production ... that whole lack of a Mil-spec thing for .308AR's. I can see how being large company's, a thing like this would cause a timing / "inventory" issue. The replacements were supposed to work.. but didn't, so back they go to be altered to fit again. Remember, sometimes a comment like "inventory issues" ... might mean more then just what it says. ( we've all done stuff like that ) 9 days would feel like a long time to most everyone, I am glad PSA was able to ultimately make you happy. Enjoy your PSA .308 AR... I know I have. You'll find it , with the right ammo, and PSA's Lifetime warrenty... will give you years of happiness. I am feeling better and better about PSA everyday. They do care, and are trying hard to sell a excellent product at a good price. Like all companies there are going to be some hiccups.

Request: PSA offer upper with adjustable gas block
bfoosh006 replied to erichard's topic in Palmetto State Armory
I will still recommend people at least try an Adj. GB on over gassed .308 sized AR's. Everyone that has fired mine have been amazed how little it kicks, while still being 100% reliable. As for the "bugs" ... I like to tinker, and seek out the best accuracy, doing what I can to improve the firearm to my expectations. For those of you guys that don't want one... Ok no difference to me ! Lol -
Request: PSA offer upper with adjustable gas block
bfoosh006 replied to erichard's topic in Palmetto State Armory
Lol... it isn't just PSA with gas port size issues. And I get why the ports are larger then typically needed ... Even the Criterion barrel benefited from the SLR adj GB... the PSA ran in the OEM configuration. It runs smoother with the SLR on it.... with both the PSA barrels and the Criterion barrel. ( all middies, 18" ) And for me, I prefer the way it is now. -
Shoulda used an Adj. GB... those things fix every thing... Lol What barrel length is that blaster ?

Ohhhh, poop ......my chest hurts ..... ya sure ? .... yeah, I'm sure !! I am frigging laughing out loud ! ...that was awesome ! The first time my big ol' Cop buddy fired my loads with H322 he jabbed his eyebrow... turned to me, double stiff armed the rifle right back to me...and said ... ummm yea ...no thanks ! My Browning doesn't have a sissy pad on the stock .... just good ol' curved steel... my wife can always tell when I have been shooting it from the bruises !!! Lol
