  1. Had some good results with my El Cheapo barrel at the range today. Did a methodical break in then went for 100yd groups with my reloads. Also tuned in the gas block for said reloads. The rifle looks pretty bad ass to boot. If any one is looking for a budget build, this barrel would be hard to beat. I believe it to be made by BCA as it shares the same PN and specs. BCA is selling them for about 60 bucks right now.
  2. Just like that my brother. Yeah, I know it's a lil bit redneck. If y'all can keep a secret, nobody will ever know.
  3. 2A says that's what it's supposed to measure. I took a card from @Robocop1051 's book and placed 2 small dots of aviation fuel cell tape at the front lug and its solid as a rock now.
  4. HS check is good with the MWS bolt and Faxon barrel. What's concerning is that I had the PSA bolt and Faxon barrel checked by a gunsmith. He said it was GTG. I bought my own set of gauges this time and the PSA bolt turns (barely) in the Faxon barrel with the NOGO. If you want something done right.... Could be he used a different brand though. I got Clymers after some research. PSA bolt checked good in the BCA 18" SS barrel though. Gonna put the PA10 back together tomorrow. Still waiting on that dang handguard. Stay tuned.
  5. Just bought an AGL ACT to go into my PA10. I aint too impressed. It's good for what it cost but the MBT is only about 20 bucks more. Might order me one just in case. Like I always tell the wife, "I'd be losing money if I didn't buy this".
  6. I got some 609 sitting on my bench. Now I patiently wait on my HS gauges.
  7. Got a set of Clymer .308 Win headspace gauges coming. So this is what being a grownup feels like....
  8. I go back and forth all the time on an x39 build. I'll prolly jump on one day. Thanks for the tip on the mags.
  9. So the ol PA10 is getting a new pipe. A few guys in my support group told me it's ok to have more than one 308AR and here we are. I robbed the Faxon pencil so it can go in a lightweight "Dikstroker" edition large framer I'm building. Found a deal on a SS fluted 18" mid. For about 100 bucks this thing is nice. Machine work is beautiful. If it shoots half as good as it looks, we might have something. Headspacing to commence with the PA10 bolt.
  10. Sweet, I'm in.
  11. Thanks fellas!
  12. Beautiful pics man, 'cept for the ones with that dude in the red shirt. I'm gonna take the family to Moab next. Fawk Disney world!
  13. The Faxon I have fits like a glove into the Xanthos upper. I had put some Locite on it when i had it in the PA10 upper and it was a little bit of a pain to remove. It did shoot well though.
  14. I've combed over the "other" sights, too much static. What's y'all's opinion on "bedding" the barrel extension into the reciever with Loctite compound and it's varieties? Am I "using quotation mark"s correctly?
  15. Lmfao! Good looking out @washguy Yah, we go way back. Back when I was in the 6.8 game. Good stuff!
  16. 2A stepped up A different upper is inbound. Makes me glad I went with them. Top notch.
  17. I'll go with that. SLR it is. I just wanna take a moment to thank those on the fine site, for their assistance in helping me blow my budget out of the damn water on this rifle. I hope to repay the favor someday.
  18. Forgot, the top one is made by Master of Arms and it only come as a clamp on. SLR is a little cheaper right now too.
  19. Alright boys, need some opinions (although i'm pretty sure where the consensus lies) SLR or other? Price and weight are negligible.
  20. Did a mock up this am. I'm pretty happy so far. The handguard I ordered is on back order so I wait. I'll probably order a titanium adjustable gas block to knock a couple more ounces. So here we are. 5 pounds, 8 ounces and change. Handguard I choose, with barrel nut, is about 5.25 ounces. Empty gun should come in sub 6 lbs, about 2 lbs lighter than my PA10 I hunt with. That's also about 1lb lighter than the G2 I initially wanted to buy. Win win.
  21. I hear ya Wash. Tried calling a couple times and sent an email this am. Crickets so far. I'm keeping the faith though.
  22. GTFO! That is pretty slick. I'ma have to check that out. You make a "Lite" version?
  23. That's brilliant! I use the oring trick on my 556's. We use a badass sealant at work called pro-seal. It dries into a hard rubber. Thought about filling the corners with that, but dang it, I shouldn't have to. Waiting to hear back from 2a. All in all, it's still a nice set.
  24. Thank you for the insight Robocop! I got too much tied up in this to halfass it. The Xanthos set does include a tensioning screw at the rear take down boss but it will not do anything for the axial slop up front. I sent an email to 2A. We'll see. I'm kinda bummed out. If i wanted an expensive 308AR with a wiggle, I'da just had my PA10 dipped in gold.
  25. My fuqin luck. You're right Wash. One part of me thinks I'm being hyper critical but, the other part of me thinks I spent a good pile of clams on this and it should be flawless. I'll put the ball in 2A's court. From what I've seen, they should make it good. Fingers crossed.
