  1. Got everything together and fired a box of Tula and 5 rounds of WW Super X 150 grain Working 100% once I got the adj gas block dialed in. No intensive accuracy work with the TRS-25 but was clustering in a couple inches at 75 yards. Bill
  2. Some parts arrived today. Armalite carbine gas tube. Looks good. Toolcraft BCG, headspace checked good.
  3. Yes it does look nice ?
  4. Yes it is a good exercise to measure. I want to draw the whole assembly up on cad as a cross section to show the actual interface with the BCG.
  5. Nice info :-). What did the gas tube end up costing for a custom ?? Bill
  6. Welcome ?
  7. Forgot to say nice build :-). But back to the Sig bbl, does it require the sig bolt to match ?? The custom gas is not a super big deal I suppose. Bill
  8. So what is the story on the Sig barrels ?? What does one need to to to use one in AR 308 ?? Kind of looking at the Aero upper/lower myself. "Only fits Sig Sauer 716 rifles. Will not work with any SR25 or AR10 platform."
  9. Brownells 308 AR BARREL EXTENSION TORQUE TOOLS showed up. Nice tool for $38 :-). Worth getting your C&R even if you only use it for discounts :-).
  10. Dropped a tape measure down into a shockwave tube just for giggles. 6-15/16"(top) and 7.0" (bottom)...no notch in bottom.
  11. Going forward, I do have some other plans hatching :-), will not be PSA after this. But is this whole setup here more workable ? https://www.armalite.com/product/ar10rekit01-6-position-receiver-extension-kit/ This link is the same tube but provides more detail (maybe...some mfg totally bugger the specs from what I am seeing) https://www.primaryarms.com/armalite-308-car-receiver-extension-8-collapsible-gi-size-pa308car-tube-arm10207025
  12. I'm just down to try the frikking thing :-). Might be that my BCG never shows up....and I will never know ;-). The tube I have looks to be 1/16" shorter on top than on bottom. Bill
  13. Did a re measure on my buffer tube. it is 7" deep right where the keyway is. The last USPS saw of the box with by BCG in it was Austin, TX. It shipped Dec 10 from near Detroit, MI...headed to NW Ohio...was in Austin dec 17th. Bill
  14. I'm going to see how it all stacks up when my BCG arrives some day, if it is too shallow the bolt will not lock back, pretty simple ;-). I shoved the tape measure in there again, I do get 7" on the bottom side. Right where the keyway is. Bill
  15. I’m as usual smoking crack ? 6-15/16 :-), 7-15/16 would take a lot of quarters
  16. Ordered from DSG arms
  17. I missed that in the chart. Thanks ? Bill
  18. Gas port is 9-3/16 from the rear of the flange that touches the front of the upper. I guess it will be "try and see" when other parts arrive. But likely will be an issue.
  19. Brownells mid gas tube is 11.75" as it should be. 12" tube would center almost exactly.
  20. According to this thread here What is going on there is no good, and the Armalite mid tube is the same length ?? So no fix avail there ?? Bill
  21. Ok few parts showed up, Odin Works adj gas block, and a mid length gas tube. There is where the gas tube ends up mocked up. Bear Creek Arsenal 18" barrel. I did confirm that the hole in the gas tube is aligning directly with the gas port in the barrel. Bill
  22. Are you sure you did not make a typo ?? 7-15/16 would be the same as my PA10 with a 2.5" buffer length.
  23. There is a really hot shot .224 round too, maybe using the same barrel extension and bolt. They use 6.5x47 cases, pretty much 220 swift velocities IMHO, 4000 fps with a 55 grain bullet. But finding a bolt and extension is not a simple process apparently. Folks make them for folks who use them, not so much for sale to the man on the street. https://mdws.forumchitchat.com/post/22-hellcat-intro-7559951?pid=1289516649 Rather than head to heavy bullets for a high the focus is on the shorter and lighter .224 pills at more like 4000 fps. Bill
  24. These fundamentals are why the Junior smallbore rifle programs are such a good thing. In my case they started us with CO2 air guns as part of the NRA Basic Rifle program. Then we graduated "downstairs" to the 50' indoor range. We started with prone and worked our way to sitting, kneeling, and finally offhand, it was typically a 3 year process for most of us. We shot for 2-3 hours a week every week when school was in session more or less. Some of us graduated to high power service rifle. My dad kind of kept me on rifles and off handguns and shotguns as a kid too. But when you step up in recoil.....return to focus on the fundamentals, especially follow through will get you back on track. Many years later I became an NRA certified Instructor myself, TEACHING is a good thing for us too, it refreshes those fundamentals and provides a different perspective. Focus on the front sight with iron sights is one BIG thing that new shooters often struggle with, and using a target with no detail, often just a plain paper plate or an 8-1/2 x 11 piece of paper will remove distractions. New shooters learn a lot of things very quickly and just DO them, teaching forces you to break down what has become a a semi-automatic process so you can show it to others. So buy some 22 ammo and find a kid that needs a shooting uncle if you do not have any kids :-). Bill
  25. Springco Orange came. It looks to have 2 LESS coils than the one PSA used ?? Counting starting at the full wrap I get 30 coils for the PSA and 28 for the SPRINCO Orange. Need to jury rig up a weighted jig to compare spring rate, wire dia is identical at .072. Bill
