  1. I got a status report from LaRue... Seems their triggers are quite popular at ~$79 each, so 4 to 6 weeks from order to ship, and they will send an email when they go out the door... Although they didn't send any attitude I felt like I should not have bugged them and just been patient once I got the email response. So be patient fokks, and watch for the email...
  2. Oh, right... Should have guessed that... Good call - I didn't realize it was veneer.
  3. Do you guys have a date nailed down? For either spring or fall shoot?
  4. Yeah, seeing them light up is awesome. I figured you @98z5v and @jtallen83 are the teaching types too. My friends and I have passed on some knowledge to Izzy, but she could stand to learn from a pro. She excelled when I got her into a handgun class taught by former SEALs (except now she wants a 9mm Sig-Sauer too). There's a "friendly" 22LR match once a month at a range we go to. Izzy's best so far is 795 of 800 possible with (I think) 53 of 80 in the X ring. Thats at 50 yards, throwing slugs that have the bc of a dog turd at an X-ring the size of your pinky fingernail. And you DON'T want to see what she does with a 20 gage at junior trap class...
  5. I hope I can fit it into my schedule. Sounds like you all have a good time. I'd like to bring my friend's daughter Isabelle (AKA Izzy) along (had little sister Marin at the range yesterday). She has shot with @DNP and I believe gets his seal of approval. She has been shooting with me for 2 years, and is damn good. As my brother says "The boys don't want to piss her off... She could shoot off your left nut, and leave the right one hanging there." Any chance she can learn from better shooters is welcome. The 6.5 Creedmoor build is partly for her to shoot. Her first time on a bolt action rifle, she rang steel (12" diameter I think) repeatedly at 500 yards with a 6.5 Creedmoor. Her comment was "I want one of these!"
  6. Sounds like a campfire story right there...
  7. Bravo 98Z. Bra-vo!
  8. That's ELRTIC Rifle... E-Ler-Tic...
  9. Holy pig poop Batman!
  10. And I thought you were dreaming about something that was "technically possible" but not really feasible. I didn't realize you were tag teaming this. Holy crap!

    Grilling

That is "Frenched" not french ed. The bones are wrapped in foil so they don't burn. He put olive oil, fresh, finely chopped rosemary, special seasoning mix, and some other fresh herb on them. And a load of minced garlic!
  12. Also Bk.Rd.Rnr, that is a great looking rifle, and the table is a beaut! Ever think of making a couple stocks out of that table?
  13. Unforgiven is right on the target. The guy put lead in the stock for ballance (and ballast). It probably doesn't even recoil when firing .223/5.56.
  14. I was at the range today with my buddy and his youngest daughter (14 year old). She has been doing well in school, so her dad said she could throw some lead down range. She did ok for not shooting for 6 months or more. She worked through a few boxes on the H&R 22LR using the aperture sights. There was a guy next to us with a national match ar-15. I seldom see the traditional style stock, so I asked him about it as we were heading out. He talked about it a little, and let me shoulder it. I have to go in for a hernia check. The ar-15 weighed 17 lbs. Yes, SEVENTEEN! I didn't have a spotting scope going, but I bet he was well under 1 moa.

    Grilling

Just stopped by my brother's house. He was making french ed rack of lamb on the grill.
  16. We are getting closer to a build!
  17. Oh my that Lagavulin is a peaty beverage... I guess the advantage is that I don't need to have a cigar with it, since it tastes like I already am... ?
  18. Going to break into this tonight... ?
  19. I talked to a nice lady from Wilson today. Figured out the barrel delay. Great customer service!
  20. That looks great!
  21. Now why didn't I think of that???
  22. LOL - you guys crack me up...
  23. Got any suggestions for gas blocks? Adjustable? Clamp-on or solid? SLS or Superlative or ? I think I need something "low profile" to fit inside handguards. And for a 16" 338 federal, will a 10" length handguard be too short? Should I go with 12" or 15" instead? Of course I can't recall the appropriate size blocks for the barrels...
  24. So I'm backtracking in search of wisdom, and I run across this... LOL! ?
  25. Well, if the shoe fits... ? Thanks for the info. I look forward to trying them both.
