5. As I said on another forum, I believe this is a testing of the waters for changing rules unchecked by congress and without vote or public consensus. Basically testing back door gun control

 8. Thursday, June 03, 2010 In a recent ruling regarding the “transfer” of firearms, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (BATFE) has reversed policies that have been in place for more than 40 years. In the ruling, BATFE declared that a temporary shipment of a firearm by a federal firearms licensee to a non-employee for business reasons (such as a manufacturer's shipment to a gun writer or engineering consultant for a technical evaluation), will now be considered a “transfer” and require completion of a Form 4473 and background check. This reverses a ruling issued in 1969, right after the passage of the Gun Control Act, although BATFE provided no explanation of the need for the change. According to the National Shooting Sports Foundation, BATFE hasn’t been able to name a single case in which a gun temporarily shipped under the old rule has been used in crime. The short-term impact may be limited, because many major manufacturers already require firearms sent to non-employees to go through the transfer process. But manufacturers who didn’t follow that practice will now have to ship guns to licensed dealers to complete these “transfers.” Furthermore, the ruling only applies to temporary shipments by federal firearms licensees to carry out those licensees' business operations. Given that limitation, the new ruling won't affect private individuals who ship guns to themselves when traveling to shoot or hunt, or who ship firearms to a manufacturer or gunsmith for repair or customization. However, this new ruling may have broader implications for future issues. For example, some have suggested that although the ruling doesn’t relate directly to rental of guns for use on commercial shooting ranges, its reasoning might require rentals to be treated as “transfers” subject to record keeping and background check requirements. Please rest assured that NRA-ILA is seeking clarification of the scope of this new ruling. If necessary, we will consider appropriate action to reverse any adverse impact on law-abiding gun owners.
 9.

An explosion and ensuing fire yesterday afternoon has heavily damaged Nosler Inc's Bend, Oregon bullet manufacturing plant. Several streets and blocks of surrounding property was evacuated, but reports from the scene indicate all 100 workers in the facility at the time are safe and accounted for. Reporters on the scene tell The Outdoor Wire initial reports were for an "orange smoke", but shortly after 2:15 p.m. local time, a massive blast rocked the facilities. According to a Nosler spokesman, there was testing going on in an underground ballistics tunnel when there was a "flash" followed moments later by the massive explosion. Approximately 100 people work at Nosler, the company founded in the 1940s by John Nosler. Only one worker was reportedly treated for smoke inhalation, but video from the scene showed a portion of the facility destroyed by what appears to have been a blast that blew exterior walls onto vehicles parked outside. 11. The only marks on the barrel are M1S so Im not surprised it isnt marked. They told him "its probably 5.56"
 12. A friend recently traded for an AR-15. The barrel is not marked as to the caliber and the manufacturer "thinks" its a 5.56. Is there an easy way to verify the caliber?
 13. I like it! <thumbsup>
 14. what do you mean "low pay" you are part of the dedicated "NO PAY" staff <laughs>
 15. are you swapping the buttstock? Thats what matters. 24" barrel on a rifle with a collapsible stock might be quite unbalanced

 22. Guys we are getting ahead of ourselves. As i said in my first post i am gauging interest before I approach anyone for price and delivery. The complete .308 bcg seems to be the one of the more difficult parts to get at this time and that is the primary driver behind this endeavor and not cost alone. Currently complete bcg's show up in small spurts or low prices with no stock from dealers accumulating purchases to get a bulk price. FA is charging $289.95 for a chrome carrier and DPMS is listing the BP for $289.95. Even if we get 25 or 30 folks that show interest the price still may not be the absolute cheapest you'll ever find as other sources order in much larger quantity. My goal here is a fair price and reasonable delivery. Tomorrow Im going to send this question out in a newsletter as well as get it on the main website. Lastly please vote your interest in the poll so I dont have to go through the replies to perform a head count. I dont have 10 fingers so I lose count quickly So please be patient. In the meantime If you see a good deal grab it and tell the rest of us ;D
