  1. I like a good solid plan like this. I cant wait to see the pictures. as for the AR-15's Ive decided to keep a few stripped lowers around just to have. That way I dont shell out a lot of cash up front but Im covered for a while if anything changes. As I find a deal here and there Ill buy a part. Tough to beat the economics of 5.56/.223 ammo
  2. Upon receiving my Pmags I decided to study the differences in all the magazines I own for my DPMS LR-308. For this post I will stick with observations between the C Products LLC 7.62 and DPMS LR-308 factory magazines. Images 1,2&3 -front view of both magazines. The magazine on the left is the C Products. Notice how the front of the CP magazine is lower than the DPMS. The difference is enough to allow a substantial difference in how much more of the second cartidge is visible. Additionally the DPMS magazine holds the cartridge level in the magazine. The C Products tips the cartridge up at a slight angle. Image 4 - Right side view. The closest magazine is the C Products. The cartridge angle difference is apparent between the two magazines Image 5 - A Close up (see above) Image 6 - Another right side view from a little higher up. The differences in the angle are obvious. Interestingly many shooters who experience feed issues with their DPMS LR-308 have solved the feed problems by bending the feed lips in a manner similar to the C Products standard configuration.
  3. and the last
  4. Took a bunch of pictures today
  5. I read they had a pretty big batch that was incorrect.
  6. Im in the same boat as you. Weather has virtually prevented my outdoor shooting most of the year. I should be building an ark not rifles. Anyhow I finally got around to taking pictures and general fondling of the magazines today.
  7. No The .308 requires much larger components to accommodate the larger caliber. Look at the images below for a size comparison.
  8. Looks like the case is transitioning to KAC as well :)
  9. yeah I suspect it was worth the wait. I need an OBR to go with my LT hat and LT beverage entry tool ;D

    Intro

Welcome!!! Be sure to hit the KAC and Armalite sections too.
  11. How do you know when buying a DPMS LR-308 that you are buying a rifle that was produced completely by DPMS or whether it was assembled from by an end user. The answer is easy. DPMS adds a "K" to the serial number of lower received that are sold as parts. This can be important when seeking warranty repairs.
  12. Pretty interesting weapon
  13. Heres the exploded view
  14. Yeah, the POF upper's are in the $1800 price range. Keep in mind that the POF's are gas piston driven which is pretty unique on the .308's at the moment. DPMS has no such offering.
  15. regarding optics, that seems to be the hardest choice for me with these guns. I got a good deal on a Leupold for my 24" DPMS. I want something different for the 18". Im leaning towards the Nikon Tactical Monarch today.
  16. Do you have pictures you can post? I Good to have you here.
  17. :) The forum has only been up since 11-14-2009. A side effect of starting over with its own domain is low traffic from google. The main site gets a good amount of traffic but most don follow the link to this forum. Please spread the word. I believe the .308 AR popularity is going to increase fast. Thanks for joining.
  18. Very nice!
  19. thanks joining and posting Jager
  20. The mags from AIM Surplus arrived today..
  21. Well the Midway order was the first to arrive. In the next day or so I will take some pictures with its steel and AR-15 counterparts. First observation: The plastic cap is very difficult to remove. Ill see if it gets easier at room temp versus the 20 degrees where it spen a few hours.
  22. Hey I know you :)
  23. Post em up
  24. Im a big fan of 1911's and single action Smith & Wessons like the models 52,745 and 945 etc
  25. Anyone have experience with these Nikon Monarch X tactical rifle scopes?
