It is surprising how well the American gunner shoot's for factory ammo . With the cost of reloading supplies being through the roof and time involved it's really hard to beat .

Sorry I haven't been around I have been pretty busy through the summer . I purchased an armalite 6.5 creedmoor 22 inch barrel tactical model . I topped it off with a bushnell dmr 2 optic in an adm mount , added a Harris bi-pod with adjustable cant and bought dura-mags . I run hornady American gunner 140 grain bthp with a velocity of 2711 fps . The owner / match director where I shoot got interested and helped true up my velocity at 850 yds . once trued we dropped down to 700 yds and 600 yds and the darn thing was right on the money . My scores improved over the summer and I started getting 100% on some various stages and drastically improved my performance shooting off barricades , fence post , and angled platforms . I still have a long way to go but I am very happy with the rifle and already gathering stuff for next spring . this is how it set's and ready to get back to work .

It's 308 day give your rifle a hug .My little 308 family M1A loaded , 20 inch SFAR and My Remington 700 AAC-SD .

Yeah it is an interesting place , apparently it was caused by a volcano many moon's ago . I am a shutterbug as well and feel blessed to have many places to explore so close to home . -

That rifle with 77 grain match kings does right at 2748 fps . It will get me as far out as we shoot around 750 yds is the farthest . it might be a bit of a hike to Arizona I live in the Missouri ozarks . I have a little 40 acre ranch . this is what the area I live in looks like . -

This is the rifle I normally run . 20 inch BA dmr profile barrel , Im not really sure what the upper receiver is but I trued up the front end , lower is a poverty pony with a rise armament drop in trigger 4lb trigger pull standard buffer and spring , mag pul moe butt stock and a vortex strike eagle 3x18x44 optic along with a griffin Optimus micro suppressor . -

I have a couple thousand 77 grain matchkings , plenty of brass and primers . I load them for my 20 inch 5.56 for prs type gas gun matches . -

yep 1/7 twist and federal bulk pack 55 grain . -
The title say's it all LOL . I was at the range sighting in my bolt action match rifle and I also had my 20 inch 5.56 Ar with me . I was jacking around shooting 50 yds with iron sights and really wasn't doing to bad . I went to pack up and found 5 more rounds of 55 grain federal so I decided to post up at 100 yds and see how things go . Surprising enough it started off pretty good better than I expected , then I pulled A shot that looked like I was setting the hook on a large mouth bass . Now I'm on a mission . The upper is a PSA premium upper with an FN barrel setting on a poverty pony lower . I did clean up the trigger group and it definatly is much better . I have to say trying to see that 3 inch dot at 100 yds is a bitch for these old eyes .

Thanks for the video . A lot of good info was in that film .

first day of regular deer season I was in the blind by 5:45 am . At 8:30 am I was field dressing a 6 point buck . 1 shot right through the shoulder and into the spine . it was dead before it hit the ground . 20 inch SFAR , yhm 7.62 phantom suppressor and Remington core -loc 150 grain along with my ancient 1.5 x 6 weaver optic . So far this year I have fired 2 shot's and dumped 2 deer . I have one antler less only tag left . I will try to fill this last tag in the next day or two .
-
Our department of conservation decided to have a cull hunt to try and slow down the spread of chronic waste disease . It was an antler-less only hunt doe's or button bucks . I tagged a small doe with my ruger S.F.A.R. using Remington 150 core-locks .Certainly nothing to brag about but , I done what they ask for and I ended up with enough venison for about 18 meal's . I will bow hunt for a couple of week's then it will be time to look for something much bigger .

I bought me a new carbine for pistol caliber carbine and 2 gun matches . This thing is a blast to shoot . It's a palmetto state armory ar-v 9mm . I topped it off with a c-more railway sight . Definitely A fun gun . I also put together a PSA dagger topped with a holosun red dot to go with it .

I remember those day's way back when olympic arms , essential arms and colt was about the only lower's available . I'm giving away my age now .
-
Another fun gun I put together . It has a Daniel defense DMR 18" profile barrel , rise armament drop in trigger , an old essential arms lower , vortex gen 2 viper 3x15x44 , mag-pul rifle stock , mag-pul bi-pod , and fed a steady diet of 77 grain matchkings . I shoot prs gas gun tactical matches and about the farthest we shoot is around 700-750 yds . The match director drags up all kinds of odd ball prop's to shoot off of to keep it real LOL he had a set of trailer step's and said it would be a common item to shoot off of here in south east Missouri .

I agree . for a decent shooting ar15 frame rifle PSA has got it down pat . some of their other adventure's not so much .
-
My 2-gun rig . GLFA 5.56 carbine , nothing special just another 700.00 carbine and my PSA dagger . I bought both of these guns to play a game and I will be damned the carbine has run through 2000 rounds with out a hitch running an Aimpoint pro I am making impact's on reduced silhouette targets at 150 yds shooting off hand . the pistol is a psa dagger and it has roughly 1000 rounds down the pipe with out a failure . Time will tell if either of these guns are worth a crap but so far they are 100% .

I think you will be happy with the Midas 2.5x15 thats a good magnification range and from my brief encounter with the 2.5x15 very decent glass . I would also agree the aero mount would be a good fit . seldom do I run my optic on top magnification but it's nice to be able to get a better view . Good luck , that optic will get you from point blank out to as far as the 308 is effective .

I have never seen a vortex hst 5x25 . I have seen the hs model's and they are all 30 mm tubes along with the pst line . An optic with a 34 mm tube will give you more elevation adjustment . I Do have a Burris ar mount that has 20 moa built in . your only option is to use a 20 moa mount and I would suggest a vortex venom 5x25 with a 34 mm tube or a vortex strike eagle 5x25 with a 34 mm tube . I have a vortex 5x25x56 strike eagle and it has a ton of adjustment , I also have a strike eagle 3x18x44 that also has a 34 mm tube and it has even more adjustment . You may be able to squeak by with a vortex pst gen 2 it has 30 mm tube but a lot of adjustment as well . If you google ar15 scope mount with 20 moa several pop up .

Don't waste your time or money on the lower budget Athlon optics . I had an Argos btr gen 1 6x24x50 . after one month the parallax adjustment quit working , I sent it back and they replaced the optic no problem . With in 2 month's the second one done the same thing , I sent it back and they sent me a gen 2 model . I sold it with out ever mounting it on a rifle . If I were to buy another Athlon I would not shop below the Midas grade . they higher grade optic's are nice and a lot of user's are out there . As far as vortex optics go , I love them but I also stay away from the lower end like the diamond back line and on down . the vortex venom would be my starting point . I like vortex optics and if you look right now you can get a pst gen 2 on close out from several on line vendors . Vortex is changing the reticle from a solid line to a center dot and they are closing out the older model . I purchased aa gen2 3x15x44 for right at half price and love it . I run it on my 18 inch ar In tactical steel matches out to 700 yds . the strike eagle line is pretty nice also I have a 3x18x44 and a 5x25x56 they are an excellent value . I also have a gen 2 razor 4.5x27x56 . It is a great optic but it also comes at a big price and is pretty heavy to put on a gas gun . It lives on my prs bolt gun . If you are dead set on Athlon I would suggest you spend the extra 200.00 and get the Midas 2.5 x 15 . They are pretty nice for the money spent , I have been behind one and it's a nice optic .

I thought I would share My bolt gun put together for prs matches . I had a gunsmith true and blue print a Remington 700 short action , he also lapped the lugs . I took it from there and I installed a 26 inch shaw barrel .936 diameter . using a badger ordnance heavy duty recoil lug and remage barrel nut , trigger tech special trigger , krg bravo chassis , odin works muzzle brake vortex razor 4.5 x 27 x 56 optic , vortex primer rings . It was a fun project . It has been a good rifle for me playing the prs game . I had a lot of fun putting the rifle rifle together . I think it took longer to remove the ejector to check head space than it did for me to install the barrel .

Thank you
