JGshooter Posted February 13, 2011 Report Posted February 13, 2011 Hey there, I have owned an M1a1 SOCOM,, and now in the market for an AR variation .308. I'm thinking the Rockriver arms operator, or Bushmaster ORC carbine. I reload, using the 168 gr sierra HPBT and varget powder, which I have used for my SOCOM, is there any changes in reloading data that I need to take into consideration, going to an AR .308?
imschur Posted February 13, 2011 Report Posted February 13, 2011 Thanks for joining JGshooter. Keep in mind the Bushmaster is DPMS LR-308, in fact the Freedom Group is shuttering Bushmaster. That said there seems to be awesome deals around on the Bushy. How do you like the SOCOM? Thats on my list.
TacBlade Posted February 13, 2011 Report Posted February 13, 2011 Welcome aboard!!! I would also like to pick up a SOCOM!!!
98Z5V Posted February 13, 2011 Report Posted February 13, 2011 If you're looking at cross-breeding with aftermarket parts, I'd advise not going with the RRA gun. There's so many little things that are different from the two "basic" types that you'll have a hard time finding aftermarket support for it. My $0.02. Welcome aboard, by the way... ;D

6132expert Posted February 14, 2011 Report Posted February 14, 2011 This is one thing I do likehttp://www.sbrammunition.com/458rifle.htmlIt can go right on my RR Ar-15 Lower
JGshooter Posted February 15, 2011 Author Report Posted February 15, 2011 This is one thing I do likehttp://www.sbrammunition.com/458rifle.htmlIt can go right on my RR Ar-15 LowerVery nice but pricy..I bought a 450 busmaster upper for 499.00 on sale, and put it on a RRA lower with a 2 stage trigger, I picked up new at a gun show for $250. ammo not too expensive to reload, and makes a great hog gun...
6132expert Posted February 15, 2011 Report Posted February 15, 2011 Well lets just say I could ALMOST have a 6.8 and a 458 RRA upper assemblies for what I got in just my lower DPMS.
