rogtack
Hey guys, I'm down to only needing a BCG to have a functioning rifle. I've seen a handful of BCGs by companies that all look the pretty much identical and it has me wondering...Is there only one or two manufactures of these BCGs and they're just selling them to these companies with the company logo on them??? Here's the few I was curious about. Prices are approximate. Radical Firearms $150 Rainier Arms $290 Aero Precision $195 Toolcraft/Cryptic Coatings $185 The cost isn't really an issue but you generally pay for what you get. With that said if there is a single manufacturer that makes both the Radical Firearms BCG and Rainier BCG with different logos it would be foolish to spend the extra on the Rainier if they're the same. See what I'm saying? I do think the Aero and Toolcraft BCGs have chrome lined IDs.
blue109
Rainier rebrands everything. don't think they actually do any manufacturing. aero probably makes their own stuff. its kinda hard to tell though. most companies don't like to advertise who makes parts for them. edgecrusher
There have been issues on a member trying to use the radical bcg
rogtack
Yeah I haven't heard many good things about the Radical. I'm very interested in the Toolcraft but can't find much info on it.
ironmonster
I can vouch for Aero building their own and they build many products that are rebranded for other companies. Aero is an actual manufacture and even has their own proprietary forging dies I am also pretty sure that Rainer builds nothing, they put their name on other peoples products. Rainer is right up the road from me, I am in their shop at least once a month. They are kind of like the Ferrari dealership, Everything is beautiful and expensive and you’re scared to touch it (and many of the salesman are a bit snobby, Not all though, there are some really helpful guys too) You would think having Rainer three miles away would be great, But I feel like a cheapskate every time I go in there. They have the best and baddest of everything but most of the time I am hoping to spend the smallest amount of money I can and make it work. Last week I was in there asking about .308 BCG working with their select barrel and asking if they had ever had a PSA in for headspace, He looked at me like I was a filthy bum brining up such garbage. :))
rogtack
Good info Ironmaster. I've got a Rainier select barrel but won't be going with their bcg when the well reviewed Aero is almost $100 cheaper. I like the Aero but it's hard to beat Toolcraft's no questions asked lifetime warranty. The only reason I haven't already gotten one is because I can't find many reviews. blue109
the best warranty is the one you never need....I hope to never break a BCG!

blue109
personally id stick to the companies who have been around and consistently put out a good product. id trust aero stuff. as mentioned, they probably build parts for alot of these smaller guys. the 308 game is changing fast so who knows if a standard will be adopted, and what it might be. until then, I avoid the bandwagon companies. (I understand aero is new to 308, but they have a great reputation across the board)
