392heminut Posted March 13, 2015 Report Posted March 13, 2015 Those bolts had actually had more than 1K rounds through each one of them but how much more I couldn't say.
98Z5V Posted March 14, 2015 Report Posted March 14, 2015 Larry - I fucked up. I though it was 1k that you posted. When I look at it again, it's "under 10k." BIG difference!... My bad. :yup: i saw this while browsing the forums. But, you said you'd never seen this type of crack before - did you find that thread after you made that post?
survivalshop Posted March 14, 2015 Report Posted March 14, 2015 Hey Survivalshop, I get your point that this could have been an issue that kept building upon itself with the other issues. I have just never seen this type of crack before and neither has the guy who made and tested the new upper assembly or Clint at heavy buffers. I am not blaming SOW for a bad part just saying that if you have one to keep an eye out just in case. Did you ever figure out why your rifle would function properly with pmags? I am guessing the slide not catching on an empty mag? Anyone use the JP enhanced bolt with a short gas system? I have one of their low mass BCG in a 22" rifle and functions flawlessly. I believe because it was an early made CMMG Billet 308 Lower / SI Defense ,Gen. II Billet ,Upper & PMags were just a thought for 308AR's , it was made to work with Steel Mags , which it does , works fine with every Metal Mag. I put in there , but for some reason , PMags are not reliable in it . I fixed it by switching out both Upper & Lower Receivers . Yes, Basically a New rifle <laughs> ,But works with all Brand/type Mags now. ( You could call it " Tolerance Stacking " ) I've been woking on a fix for the CMMG / SI Defense Receivers & when I get a Barrel , I can see if it works .
