guruofhotrod
Has anyone else noticed the hole for the roll pin that retains the F/A allows a standard size F/A roll pin to fall right throughI think I'm gonna try a metric 2.5mm x 14mm pin - looks like it should work. blue109
Yup. Same here. Doesn't fall through built its not tight at all.
jtallen83
Never measured mine but the pin went in hard for me. I had bought a 308 specific FA, or so they said, only problem was it did not let the BCG come back after it was forward. beat the pin back out and put a plug in it. Malig8r
I know this doesn't really address the question posted by OP, but I bought the LPK in conjunction with the Matrix receiver set from Chris so I didn't see any noticeable difference. guruofhotrod
The 2.5mm x 14mm Roll Pin was a little snug but drove in as a roll pin should - F/A functions fine with the slightly larger pin.@Malig8r - I also bought the LPK from Chris but this is an issue related to the upper receiver and since I didn't buy the UPK? from Chris, instead electing to source the components separately and using a standard AR15 Forward Assist (That I've used successfullywith every other 308 I've assembled) the pin that was included was not even close to fitting properly - Anyway the metric roll pin was aperfect solution - I had to buy a large bag of them (I think it was 100) so if anyone needs 1 or 2 PM me and I'll take care of you! jtallen83
Now I wonder what "specific 308AR" the FA I bought is meant for??? The pawl was advertised as being longer and it was, too long!
Malig8r
Guru, yup...totally misread that. Chalk it up to a bit of Makers Mark. I haven't completed my Matrix upper so I'll keep an eye on this post. Thanks for the heads up.
blue109
Jt...I used a standard FA I pulled from an A2 upper and the pawl was still too long with a factory DPMS bcg. It would close fine, but then the carrier would catch on it and it wouldn't open. I didn't want to order anything so I just took the FA apart and reinstalled it without the pawl. Looks fine but doesn't do anything.
jtallen83
I guess issues like this are what keeps 308AR builds interesting.......and this forum busy!
blue109
Makes me wonder if the ruger piston gun has a carrier that is shaped different in that area.
guruofhotrod
My Shooting buddy is building a 308 based on a Matrix set and bought an AIM Surplus BCG that seems to work fine in the Matrix upper. http://www.aimsurplus.com/product.aspx?item=XAIMBCG308NIBBDG&name=AIM+.308%2f7.62x51+BDG+NiB+Bolt+Carrier+Group&groupid=2535
