I have no idea if this is true or just an Internet lie. But what a stitch if it  is! And I have no idea what hero of the proletariat.com is.

Total BS. Did a quick search got his first job in 1953, would have been a little old for Vietnam. Still funny though that someone would go through all that work.

I literally grew up in Mr. Rogers neighborhood (about 200 yds. as the crow flies) in Glenshaw, Pennsylvania (his show originated on WQED, the Pittsburgh public broadcasting station).  The neighborhood kids often would sop and talk to him when he was out cutting the grass, trimming bushes, etc.  I never saw him with a sweater on around the neighborhood.

yup urban legend another one was the reason he wore Sweaters was he was all tatt'd up
