LandonTheLegend
Hello everyone,I'm completely new, not only to this forum, but to this world of building AR's as well. With that being said, I have done a bit of reading through the forums and I've put together something of a first draft of a DPMS pattern .308AR. I don't even know if this will work or is complete, hence why I'm coming here. I want to make sure. I also want to get a second opinion as far as whether or not I could save money (without sacrificing quality) or if a component I have listed is a low quality component that could do with being replaced by something better. Here it is:-Lower- Aero Precision 308 AR M5 (stripped)http://www.brownells.com/rifle-parts/receiver-parts/receivers/lower-receivers/308-ar-m5-lower-receiver-prod71464.aspx-Upper- Aero Precision 308 AR M5 (Assembled)http://www.brownells.com/rifle-parts/receiver-parts/receivers/upper-receivers/308-ar-m5-upper-receiver-prod71789.aspx-LPK- (No trigger group)http://www.fulton-armory.com/lowerreceiverpartskittitanwithouttriggerparts-1.aspx-Trigger- Geissele High Speed DMRhttps://geissele.com/hi-speed-national-match-designated-marksman-rifle-dmr-trigger.html-Barrel- Faxon 20" (WITH gas tube and low profile gas block)http://faxonfirearms.com/20-heavy-fluted-308-win-rifle-length-416-r-stainless-steel-qpq/#-BCG- Aero Precision w/ forward assist, complete, NiBhttp://aeroprecisionusa.com/308-bcg-nib.html-Stock- MagPul UBR Collapsible https://www.magpul.com/products/ubr-collapsible-stock-Charging Handle- TacOps Sniper model for .308http://mechdefense.com/products/ar10-charging-handle-tacops-sniper-for-308-Rail System- Fortis Switch 15" Free Floathttp://www.primaryarms.com/switch-15/p/switch-15/-Sights- Diamondhead http://www.at3tactical.com/products/diamondhead-diamond-sight-front-and-gen-2-rear-1199 Now I know I need a receiver extension/buffer/action spring for the stock, and a quick suggestion for where to find that would be appreciated. :)Is there anything else that I'm missing, or something that won't work?I do know that this will be a heavy son of a gun and I'm okay with that (I think) for now. With that being said though, I'm always open to more suggestions. You guys are the experts, I'm just the new guy. ;)

LandonTheLegend
Thanks unforgiven,I'll check that out. Everything else will work together though, right?
survivalshop
I believe the UBR comes with its own Receiver Extension.
D.R.D.
Save money and potentially increase quality on BCG with D.Wilson MfgSave money on the handguard with MIdwest Industries, Matrix Aerospace or the new UTG Pro series (not that the Fortis isn't really good)Put that money towards a different barrel (Criterion, Lothar Walther, Rainier Match, JP, etc)
EngrBob
You would have to prove to me that the barrels you mention are better than Faxon. I have both 308 (18") and 223 (16") Faxon barrels that are both well below MOA and both are extremely light weight. I would suggest that either a 16" or 18" barrel would do for most applications. LandonTheLegend
I know that the difference between an 18" barrel and a 20" barrel is negligible, but, at least for faxon barrels, so is the price/weight difference between the two. I thought, for as little difference as there is, (.15/lb and like $10) it would be a good trade-off.Also, thanks everyone for the replies, you've opened up my options wildly from where I've started. :DIm also looking into the Criterion barrels, which was what I originally wanted. I just couldn't remember the name of the brand after doing all the research and reading up on other things to do with the build. Thanks! :) Edited December 16, 2015 by LandonTheLegend
unforgiven
Yea brother it was all good.Part of it the Nibor BCG was very tight. The longer tube, spring, and heavier buffer helped.Cut the 16" barrel down to 14.5" had a batte comp welded on.Thier are pics here somewhere. For the money the Aero M5 is a damn good deal.Just got the LaRue trigger from a brother here,it will go on the M5. LandonTheLegend
I don't think so, I've pretty much got it figured out, though I am a way away from actually ordering all these parts. I do love how you give an option for getting the gas system/tube with the barrel like a bundle deal. :)
