mineralman55 Posted August 6, 2016 Report Posted August 6, 2016 I'm thinking of getting a strap-on shoulder pad. Not so much for recoil reduction, but to help damp out the micro movements from breathing, heartbeat, etc. Anyone have one, try one, recommend one? I use a shooting jacket in colder weather which works well, but that's only two months of the year here . Oh yeah, it's got to be for a lefty (shooter, not political.)
planeflyer21 Posted August 6, 2016 Report Posted August 6, 2016 I'm checking with a trainer for Olympic shooting team coaches. I'll let you know what he says.
blue109 Posted August 7, 2016 Report Posted August 7, 2016 Since nobody else did it. I've heard leftys like using strap-ons
planeflyer21 Posted August 7, 2016 Report Posted August 7, 2016 Alright, bad news. Bill says that there are no pads made to reduce the affect of the heartbeat on the rifle. He also commented that the jackets don't work well either, when shooting at the Olympic level and targets are measured to the 1/100th of a millimeter. He said work on spacing out your heartbeats when you pull the trigger. Where's that zen smiley?
Tripledeuce Posted August 7, 2016 Report Posted August 7, 2016 I use a strap on pad whenever I' shooting one of the big boomers. Like hot 45-70's or my .458. It even works when shooting long strings of things of anything over an '06. But then again I don't seem to be as immune to recoil as I used to be.
