shepp
Did some reading http://www.gundigest.com/article/winchesters-bad-boy-smoothbore-model-97-riot-gun
planeflyer21
IIRC, Norinco did a copy of the 1897 Riot Gun, maybe the Trench version too. Right now the best combat shotty replica is Inland Manufacturing's M37.
blue109
Speaking of shottys...was reading some posts by the guy who owns battlefield vegas, the big machine gun rental range. He said the pump shotguns are the LEAST reliable weapons they have. Says the mossy 500s and the rem 870s last an average of 3 months before shearing off slide rails, and that they cost more to fix than replace. Said the benelli M4 is a tank and has been running since they got it. He makes some pretty good posts over on ar15.com. planeflyer21
Oh crap. Blue's recommending arfdotcom. I'm curious what he has to say about the 590 and BPS. If a person had zero experience with pumps and did a side by side comparison of the 500 to the 590, I believe most anyone would conclude the 500 was about to fall apart. The 870s are another victim of Ceberus/Freedom Group IMO. Like the Marlin owners, there are 870 buyers who will pay near vulgar amounts to get a pre-Freedom Group example.
