Dredonn
Hello everyone, I'm still new to the world of rifles so I have a few hopefully simple questions, I have a Savage Arms MSR 10 Hunter in .308, and thinking about upgrading the muzzle break to a JP Enterprise https://www.jprifles.com/buy.php?item=JPTRE-5.58B.750 Does anyone have any experience with this particular brake? not too many reviews on it that I could find, I'm guessing it's fairly new. Also I spoke with Savage Arms and I was told the OD of the barrel is .740 with the threads at 5/8 X 24, but the JP is .750, does that matter? I'm guessing it only means that the brake will have a slight lip and won't be flush with the barrel. I've never change a brake before and don't want to go and buy something that won't fit, any info you guys can give would be very helpful. Thanks in advance for all the help. ? jtallen83
JP historically gets high marks on their brakes, doubt they would go backwards but I have no first hand experience with any of their brakes. Looks like there would be a small lip due to the difference in size but other than appearance it shouldn't matter. I would recommend these washers to clock the brake; https://precisionarmament.com/product/accu-washer-system/ And use a small drop of Rocksett on the threads, it is tough thread-locker but can easily be taken off after a soak in water. http://www.flexbar.com/shop/pc/ROCKSETT-4-OZ-p4020.htm

Matt.Cross
I had that brake on a DPMS and it worked tremendously well. Nobody beside you at the range is going to like you, but it will make your muzzle really tame during the recoil cycle.

I usually shoot at an outdoor range, and try to do it during the week so less people, but as long as it helps to make follow up shots quicker I guess a few people looking at me crossed eye is acceptable. 308kiwi
I'm running that brake on my IPSC rifle, have had plenty of different brakes on said rifle, even machined up one or two for it myself but none of them work as well as the JP. If you're worried about the step up from barrel dia to the rear face of the brake then get any competent smith to profile it for you, it's like a five minute job in a lathe, (barrel out obviously) One point to consider....if you are going to use the rifle in ISPC competition, there are restrictions on brake dimensions and the JP will put you into Open Division. Pic of mine on my rifle.......
